A procession in memory of Stanislav Markelov and Anastasia Baburova will take place in Moscow on February 15. It will begin at 14.00 at the House of Journalists. The organizers plan to walk from Arbat Gate Square to Pushkin Square, and a rally agreed with the authorities will take place in Novopushkinsky Square from 15.00 to 17.00. After a lot of red tape and all sorts of refusals, the procession was also approved - this was announced on the evening of February 13 by the chairman of the Moscow Helsinki Group, Lyudmila Alekseeva. Previously, it was reported that the mayor’s office refused to allow human rights activists to hold a march along Nikitsky and Tverskoy boulevards, allegedly fearing for the lives of demonstrators and the safety of monuments. The organizers ask not to bring flags or any party symbols to the procession or rally and not to shout slogans during the procession.
