The persecution of Soviet power to the Russian Church was such that it was not to say about their faith, but even silently follow it as a feat. The new martyrs and confessors, glorified in the face of the saints did not come: believed, prayed and meekly went to their Calvarys.
“Polit.ru” recalls those who gave their lives for faith and by whose prayers the Russian Church is alive - even if almost nothing came to us besides the name.
Publications were prepared by Kirill Kharatyan (included by the Russian authorities in the register of foreign agents).

Nikolai Troitsky - the son of a deacon from the village of Zapoznovo Kurmysch district of the Simbirsk province (now the Poretsky district of Chuvashia). In 1918, 23 years old, he graduated from the Simbirsk Theological Seminary according to the first category. For some time he served as a teacher of a rural school.
In 1920, he was ordained a priest to the village of Sabaevo (now Mordovia). In January 1929, he was convicted under Article 61 for tax failure and for some time was serving a sentence.
After the liberation, since 1930, he transferred to serve in the village of Semenovskoye, Poretsky district of the Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, and in 1933 - in the village of Maloye Churashevo, the Yadrinsky district. In 1935 he was erected to Archpriest. Then the authorities wanted to attract him to public work, to which the priest wrote a statement to the village council: “I ask you to explain in force or changed the order of the All -Russian Central Executive Committee No. 247 (dated 1930) - that sending ministers of the cult for logging, road construction or other public work is not allowed. Last year, on the basis of this certificate, I was released by the chairman of the village council. ”
At the request of the Church Council, the previously imposed ban on the bell ringing was canceled. Often father Nikolai asked for permission from a village council for walking around a village with holy water on a festival of baptism and on other holidays.
On November 29, 1937 he was searched and arrested. It was contained in the prison of the city of Yadrin of the CHASSSR, was questioned on November 30, December 13, 1937 and January 14, 1938. At all interrogations, the accused priest did not plead guilty.
During the interrogation, on December 13, the investigator asked:
-Do you find yourself guilty of the charges under Article 58-10 of Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR in the fact that you are discontented by the existing system among the population are conducting counter-revolutionary campaigning?
- In the charges of me under Article 58 of paragraph 10 of Part 1, I do not admit to myself and explain that I have never led to counter -revolutionary agitation among the population.
- The investigation was sufficiently established that among the population you are conducting counter -revolutionary campaigning against modernity, so the investigation requires sincere recognition from you.
- I repeat that among the population I have never led to agitation from the day of the revolution, I show it sincerely. This is if the investigation is established by witness indications, then I ask you to make confrontation.
At another interrogation, carried out on January 14, 1938, the investigator asked:
- The investigation is known that you were free in touch with the priest from the village of Nizhny Mochars Danilov Efim Danilovich and with the latter waged a joint struggle with modernity. The investigation on this issue requires you a truthful testimony.
- The priest Danilov Efim Danilovich, of course, I know that he himself Danilov comes from the village of Nizhny Mochars until the closure of the Nikolsk Church in the Krasnchetaysky district, he served as a priest of this church, since 1935, that is, from the moment of the closure of this church, Danilov has been living in the Lower Mochars without any specific employment. I do not hide that Danilov, after the closure of the Nikolsky Church, occasionally visited the Malo-Churashevsky Church, where I myself served. Like all believers, Danilov came, prayed and left, I did not even enter into any conversations with him. Your information that I and Danilov has a connection between counter -revolutionary purposes, I do not confirm, I have no connection with Danilov.
False -seekers were found from among the collective farmers of the neighboring village. One of them showed:
- Pop Troitsky, among the population, especially among the solers, is campaigning against collective farm construction, which greatly affects collective farmers. In the fall of this year, I don’t remember the number and the number, Pop Troitsky was in our village, with whom I met on the street and asked him the question: "Where and who was he?" He didn’t tell me anything, then I asked another question of how he lives and whether his church visits and is there any income, he answered it ironically: “Yes, they visit me a little, the income is certainly small, but you can live only by the one -faced, and the collective farmers are not enough, they apparently do not allow the board of collective farms, if not for the collective farm, but they would come all, but they would come. Time, all the same, everyone will follow us, since without religion it will be difficult for the population to live, for it has been created for centuries and the Holy Church must exist. ”
On January 12 and 13, confrontation with two false witnesses took place, on which Father Nikolai, on a question set by the investigator, confirms whether the accused readings of the witnesses answered:
- No, I do not confirm, and I consider the testimony false, I have never conducted agitation among the population. I repeat that there has never been such a case on my part. I have never said such words to anyone. This is a pure lie from the witnesses.
On January 18, the investigation was completed and on February 1, an indictment was presented. On February 13, the acting deputy prosecutor for the special departments of the CHS, having familiarized himself with the case, found that the case is investigated with sufficient completeness, the crime has been proved and qualified correctly, the indictment was compiled in accordance with the circumstance of the case and all the procedural requirements were observed and therefore decided to approve and the case to send the Supreme Court of the Chai to judge for judicial consideration. ”
Only on May 5, 1938, a closed court hearing was held by the special college of the Supreme Court of the Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic in the city of Yadrin, but for the lack of witnesses were postponed. On May 6, the court hearing was continued, which sentenced the defendant Troitsky under Article 58 of paragraph 10 of part 1 - 10 years in prison. The filed cassation appeal on the review of the sentence of the Special College of the Supreme Court of the RSFSR was not satisfied.
Archpriest Nicholas was sent to the Alatyrskaya forced labor colony, in which in those years there were more than 4 thousand prisoners. Although the colony was not part of the Gulag system, in it, as in the camps, the prisoners were dying of constant malnutrition and diseases, since there were no drugs. Among them are many priests and Orthodox believers. Believers of the prisoners were communed with holy gifts, which were sent in the parcels or brought relatives, confessed, prayed.
After almost three years in the Alatyr colony, in March 1941, Father Nicholas was transferred along the Gulag in the Baikal-Amur camp.
He died on March 10, 1945 in the Svobodnensk branch of Bamlag. He was buried in an unknown grave.
