The Moscow City Duma ended the year of protest by introducing a ban on car rallies in the city center and single pickets with “a single organizer and a single goal.”

If previously the favorite weapon against a single picketer was police provocation, now the legislative cudgel has been used. The new federal rules for holding rallies and pickets, approved in the summer, it turns out, left a “legal loophole” - if the distance between pickets is at least 50 meters, this is not a reason to consider them single, the Moscow City Duma decided. It is possible to hold single pickets in different parts of the city at the same time, but on the same street it is no longer possible, explained MP Kirill Shchitov, an honored fighter against the “occupiers”.
