In the case of Ukraine’s accession to a plan of actions to prepare for NATO membership or forcing the entry into the Alliance, the State Duma proposes to consider this a unilateral withdrawal from the friendship, cooperation and partnership and consider the issue of the withdrawal of Russia from it. According to RIA Novosti, such a proposal to the country's leadership is contained in the statement of the chamber adopted on Wednesday.
According to the head of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with compatriots of Alexei Ostrovsky, if official Kyiv takes new steps in this direction, and, in particular, if at the next Summit of NATO the issue of joining the republic to the Alliance will again be raised, then "Ukraine itself casts doubt on the action of the Russian-Ukrainian agreement."
At the NATO summit in Bucharest, in early April, it was decided to postpone the accession of Georgia and Ukraine to the PDC in the Alliance until December. At the same time, the Secretary General of NATO JAP de Hop Scheffer said that Georgia and Ukraine in the future will become members of the block. Earlier, the Russian side stated that the desire of Ukraine in NATO contradicts the agreement of Russia and Ukraine on friendship.
