The prosecutor's office asks the court to extend the term of detention of ex-head of Yukos Mikhail Khodorkovsky until February 14. According to RIA Novosti, prosecutor Dmitry Shokhin made a corresponding petition to the Meshchansky Court on Monday. According to him, "Khodorkovsky can prevent the establishment of the truth in the case and hide from the court."
"In the course of the judicial investigation it was established that Khodorkovsky has international connections and, if released from custody, he can hide from the investigation, and also has a real opportunity to influence the decision of witnesses who have not yet been interrogated," Shokhin said.
He also added that while in custody, Khodorkovsky "almost managed to impose his position on the witness, the change in testimony concerned the minimization of Khodorkovsky's role in the crime."
Meanwhile, one of the lawyers for the ex-head of Yukos, Genrikh Padva, asked the court to adjourn until Tuesday to prepare a written response to the petition. "It was unexpected for us that this petition was made today. According to our ideas, the deadline expires on November 12. We would like to check everything," the defender said.
