Bush talked with dad

On Friday, President Bush, who was in Italy with a three -day official visit, met with Pope John Paul II. According to BBC, dad called Bush to the "speedy return of the sovereignty of Iraq." Bush awarded the Pontiff to the American medal of freedom, calling John Paul II "the son of Poland, who became the Roman bishop and the hero of our time." This medal is the highest US award for civilians.

The Pope once again emphasized that the Vatican was and remains the enemy of the war in Iraq. According to him, the situation in the region should be regulated as soon as possible "with the active participation of the international community as a whole and the UN in particular."

Bush arrived in Italy to participate in the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Rome during the Second World War. He will also meet with Italy's pre-minister Silvio Berlusconi, who, on the contrary, ardently supports the actions of the United States in Iraq and is not going to withdraw the Italian contingent with 2,900 people earlier.
