Shamil Basayev's interview with journalist Andrei Babitsky caused great displeasure of the Russian authorities. Scandal and in fact pervosteyny. And the scandal, in my opinion, is as follows. In Russia, people from the KGB are in power. Chekists divide business, interfere in politics, put phones on continuous wiretapping. Demonstrations with posters against Khodorkovsky come out of the Lubyanka building. Even after Beslan, someone did not forget to hand out uniform posters to the protesters with neat inscriptions: “Central Bank! Get the money out of the American dollar!" And here you can’t keep track of Babitsky, who lives in the neighboring Czech Republic, who has long been like a bone in the throat of the special services?
Guys, whose phones are you listening to? Who are you running outside for? The secret services had a rare case of catching both Basayev and Umarov (Babitsky also interviewed him). Apparently, they were listening to others at that time. We shared another business.
Our special services do not want Shamil Basayev to give interviews. They have ways to ensure that Basayev does not give interviews. So that he would testify to investigators, and not give interviews to journalists. Or didn't say anything at all.
And if the FSB does not fulfill its duties, there is nothing to blame on journalists. Then you need to watch their interviews and extract useful information from them.
An interview is not yet a terrorist attack. Terrorists are still not explained by words. In order to be in the news, they usually use corpses instead of words. Basayev is not a terrorist because of what he says. Because he kills.
The reaction of the Russian authorities to Basayev's interview is understandable: the interview should be discussed somehow. A discussion of the interview itself is replaced by a discussion of the fact that it was shown.
Meanwhile, it is not a fact that one cannot argue with Basayev. For example, Basayev wears a T-shirt with the inscription in Russian letters "Anti-terror" and says that the policy of the Russians in Chechnya is terror. And he is an anti-terrorist.
And it's hard to argue with this statement.
If not for one small "but". It lies in the fact that in 1999 Chechnya was practically independent. Whatever the horrors of the war prior to Khasavyurt, and whoever committed more atrocities, Chechnya actually gained freedom. There were no Russian troops in it, there were President Maskhadov and bandit checkpoints who robbed passers-by in the name of Allah. But Basayev did not become president. And he, like every military leader in peacetime, was threatened with oblivion.
As a result, Chechnya again lost its freedom, won by blood, their own and others? As a result of Basayev's invasion of Dagestan. There are people who believe that this invasion was orchestrated by the Kremlin, that it gave Putin the title of President of Russia, and returned Basayev to the height of his glory. I'm not ready to go that far down the conspiracy theory path. But at least Shamil Basayev sacrificed the freedom of his homeland for the sake of his own ambitions.
Just as not only those who hung explosives over the heads of children, but also those who ordered the sniper to shoot the terrorist standing “on the button”, are to blame for the tragedy of Beslan, so not only Russians are to blame for the tragedy of the second Chechen war, but also Basayev, who invaded Dagestan .
In his interview, Shamil Basayev denied responsibility for the tragedy in Beslan. He stated that he was acting in ways "that are reasonable and acceptable." Well, we heard a lot of interesting things about Beslan.
We have heard that the people who ordered the tanks to fire on the school acted in a reasonable and acceptable way. We have now heard that the man who ordered the children to be taken hostage, with no water given to them, and bombs hung over them, also acted in a reasonable and acceptable manner. The statements of a terrorist are worth the statements of the authorities, and vice versa.
If there are two groups of people, and one of them hangs bombs over the heads of children, and the other shoots at the gym, where there are 32 terrorists and 1200 hostages, with "Bumblebees", the responsibility of the second for the death of children is also huge. It is not equal to the responsibility of terrorists. Maybe not even comparable. But it's huge. I don't know, if the actions of two completely different groups of people led to the death of children, are these two different groups legally considered accomplices in the murder?
But I hope that God - or Allah - in the next world will not adhere to a strictly legal point of view.
There are times when each side has its own truth. Beslan is the case when both sides have their own lies.
With the difference that our authorities talk about their innocence every day through federal channels, and Basayev once every six months through foreign ones.
