Rostelecom provided Internet to nine Novosibirsk villages

More than a thousand households in five rural areas are connected to the Internet as part of the 500+ project, which aims to provide Internet access to communities with a population of over 500 people. The work is carried out by Rostelecom

In 2016, the project included the village of Urgun and the village of Preobrazhenka in the Iskitimsky district, the settlements of Novoselye, Steklyannoye and Kirgintsevo in the Kupinsky district, Berezovka and Verkh-Chik in the Ordynsky district, as well as the village of Balta in the Moshkovsky district and the village of Karpysak in the Toguchinsky district, the press service of the company reported. .

The Novosibirsk branch of Rostelecom built about 100 km of fiber-optic communication lines to populated areas, reconstructed subscriber lines, upgraded equipment at automatic telephone exchanges. Now not only private households, but also socially significant objects are provided with the Internet here.

In the village of Preobrazhenka, for example, a school, a library, a feldsher-obstetric station, as well as the administration and management company of housing and communal services received Internet access. In total, thanks to the 500+ program, 36 social infrastructure facilities have been connected to broadband Internet access (BBA) services.

“The problem of digital inequality in rural areas can only be solved by joint efforts,” said Yury Kupriyanov, director of the Novosibirsk branch of Rostelecom. “Therefore, the initiative of the government of the Novosibirsk Region to combine the federal and regional programs, as well as to attract funds from the executing company, turned out to be very successful. Other Russian regions have already become interested in the experience of our joint work in this direction.”

The regional 500+ program was launched in 2015, in parallel with the federal project Bridging the Digital Divide (UTD). Synchronization of the state and regional programs, firstly, will make it possible to bring the Internet to villages much faster. Secondly, such anchor lines will cost the regional budget much less than building networks from scratch.

The Novosibirsk branch of the operator wins auctions for the provision of communication services in municipalities for the second year in a row. The government of the region and the telecom operator jointly finance the construction of optics in villages that are in close proximity to the UCN FOCL (no further than 30 km), but were not included in the state project. In 2015, as part of the project, Rostelecom connected two villages in the Moshkovsky and Cherepanovsky districts to broadband access services. In 2016 - 9 more settlements.

In 2017, the regional program "500+" is planned to cover 24 villages in 10 municipal districts. To do this, it is necessary to build more than 300 kilometers of fiber-optic networks.
