Dnieper in violent weather

In just a few hours, who passed after yesterday, who had already become a traditional rally on Independence Square, Kyiv turned into a real capital of street battles from history textbooks. Unless in this very history there used to be a direct television broadcast of clashes of protesters with the "security forces" - and last day all of Ukraine had the opportunity to observe, albeit on the air of Internet channels, behind a real war on the European Square.

How did the collision begin? Here, dozens of versions will probably be put forward. But the essence of what is happening, in my opinion, is obvious - it is completely indifferent to the Ukrainian authorities and President Viktor Yanukovych to the mood of citizens.

Let us recall how Kyiv events began: from a spontaneous gathering of people on the Maidan, and then a peaceful rally on the same European square, the participants of which demanded that the head of state not abandon the course on the European integration of the country.

What was the response of the authorities? Barbaric, which is not logic, the acceleration of a student camp on the Maidan - then there were only a few dozen people on the square, behind whom the security forces from the sinister "Golden Eagle" chased to the walls of the ancient Mikhailovsky monastery, in which activists were hidden. But the idea to scare the protesters turned only in an increase in the number of ready to come to rallies and stay on the Maidan.

And what, perhaps, the authorities realized the need for a political dialogue, saw that this time we are talking not only not so much about European integration, but about the need to reformat the entire political system of the country? Nothing of the kind! Building - and even then for a short while - the decoration of the "round table", the authorities have nurtured plans for a new acceleration of the camp on the Maidan.

And when he failed, when the whole tactic was elected to the alarm of churches, it seems, all Kyiv, it seemed to be chosen - to freeze and "hesitate" the Maidan. Do not notice the protesters, but at the same time turn Ukraine into triumphant lawlessness, untied the hands of the power structures, the prosecutor's office and the courts - so that it would not even be necessary to think about what to present to disagreed. Which, in fact, began to occur after the enchanting adoption of the Verkhovna Rada in the manual vote mode of the whole package of dragon Russian laws, poorly translated into Ukrainian.

This, in fact, was perceived by the authorities as a solution to problems. Those who tried to convince her of the need for a political dialogue were perceived as the most important enemies, touched and discredited. In the end, even those who succeeded in the art of political manipulation turned out to be unnecessary: ​​the president had to abandon the services of the head of the administration Sergei Levochkin. Yanukovych was left alone with his relatives, security forces, creditor Putin - and still such a trifle as the Ukrainian people.

For several months I had to explain: the Maidan is not a conspiracy of an opposition that dreams of power. He generally appeared not thanks to the opposition. The opposition is just an exponent of folk sentiments that have been rushed and formed. People want to live in another country, with another power - and opposition political forces can be a tool for finding a compromise, no more.

And when it became clear that there would be no compromise, that the authorities are going to ignore the protesters, and the opposition leaders are configured to a long -term political peaceful protest, the street itself turned to active actions. I repeat, it doesn’t matter today how it began, who conceived what. The main thing is that in Ukrainian society, such a will has grown up to change and resistance, which no “golden eagle” can crush, which no Russian intervention will interfere.

Of course, the authorities can take a battle and arrange bloody porridge in Kyiv. But what's next? How do its representatives are going to live and work in a country, the good half of which considers itself occupied? Is it really not clear that it is not clear that without resolving the situation cannot survive?

I'm afraid it’s not clear so far. Now, when I write these lines, there are only preliminary agreements by Viktor Yanukovych with opposition politicians on the beginning of a political dialogue. But these agreements may turn out to be the next maneuver of power. And you need not maneuvers. Real reformatting of the country is needed.

You need to understand that there are millions of Ukrainians who do not want to live either in Russia of Putin, or in Belarus Lukashenko, or in Ukraine Yanukovych. They want to live in their country, a country for citizens. Each of them imagines the methods of struggle for this country, and this state itself is in its own way, but in the desire to prevent themselves from turning itself into a submissive cattle, they are one.
