Houses of Muscovites, who will participate more actively than others in the program of separate waste collection, will be repaired in the first place. Pyotr Aksenov, the first deputy mayor in the capital's government, announced this form of encouragement to citizens, Newsru.com reports with reference to Interfax. According to him, part of the money received by the city budget due to savings from separate waste collection will be used to repair entrances, pay for concierges, etc. in those houses whose residents will most actively participate in the separate waste collection program.
Currently, the city recycles only one third of all waste paper and about 20% of all metal cans from various drinks.
1,280 containers for separate waste collection have already been installed in Moscow. In them, residents are encouraged to separately throw away glass, paper, plastic bottles and metal cans. In 2004, another 1,500 such containers are planned to be delivered to various districts of Moscow.
