Lewis refused to fight Klitschko

Agent of Ukrainian boxer Vitali Klitschko Klaus-Peter Kohl said that heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis refused to take part in the rematch scheduled for December this year. It was assumed that the match could take place in New York's Madison Square Garden on December 6th.

According to Kohl, representatives of Lewis said that they were not satisfied with the date of the match, since their client would not have time to prepare for the fight before that time.

Klitschko's reaction to this news was extremely negative. "I'm surprised," the 32-year-old remarked. According to the BBC, a possible rematch will take place in mid-2004.
