In Rome, on March 18, the shroud in which the body of Evita Peron was wrapped immediately after her death, as well as the library of her husband Juan Domingo Peron, will be sold at auction. According to AFP, the auction is organized by Christie's Italie.
In total, it is planned to sell about 60 lots. All of them belong to the Foundation for Peace and Friendship of Peoples, created by the personal secretary of the dictator Perón, Mario Rotundo.
Perón ruled Argentina from 1946 to 1955 before being overthrown in a coup d'état. His wife Evita died in 1952 of cancer at the age of 33. Her death deeply shocked Argentines - Evita was the darling of the nation.
