The Open Russia Council decided to submit documents to the Ministry of Justice for the official registration of movement. This was reported by "MBX-Media" with reference to the chairman of OR Andrei Pivovarov.
Thus, Pivovarov explained, the movement expects to insure his activists from persecution on charges of cooperation with the British organization of the same name, which is included in the list of "undesirable". “We believe that we do not need registration,” he remarked. “But we decided to do it. This is an additional protection of activists: if the police do not believe us, we will bring documents from the Ministry of Justice.”
Pivovarov called the refusal to register OP. However, he noted, "in this case to them (officials and security forces. - Ed.) It will be impossible to say that we are some foreigners." “Even in case of refusal, we will be a Russian public organization,” the functionary concluded.
The Russian movement of the OR, unlike two British organizations of the former oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky, is not included in the list of "undesirable". Despite this, earlier a number of activists of movement in different regions were fined under Article 20.33 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (participation in the activities of an “unwanted” organization).
Last Monday, in Rostov-on-Don, a member of the Federal Council of OR Anastasia Shevchenko was detained in a criminal case. This is the first case of the initiation of the case under Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code (the repeated implementation of the “unwanted” organization), which provides for from 2 to 6 years of the colony. On Wednesday, Shevchenko was sent under house arrest .
The investigation is maintained by the 1st management of the Central Glavka of the Investigative Committee, based in Rostov. Searches and interrogations in the case took place in addition to Rostov in Kazan and Ulyanovsk.
The case against Shevchenko became the second in January month by the case of criminal prosecution of activists of the OR. On January 17, the coordinator of the regional department of the movement of Liya Milushkin, as well as her husband, the activist of Navalny’s headquarters, Artem Milushkin, were detained under Pskov. On the fabricated charges of sales of amphetamines, both faces 10 to 20 years in a colony. Artyom Milushkin was sent to a pre -trial detention center , and his wife - under house arrest. It was reported that after the arrest, both oppositionist announced a hunger strike.
