Pashinyan became the only candidate for the post of Prime Minister of Armenia

In Armenia, the extension of the prime minister was completed. The only candidate was the leader of the opposition Nikol Pashinyan, Interfax reports with reference to the press secretary of the Parliament of the Republic of Arsen Bababyan.

The fact that Pashinyan was officially nominated for the post of prime minister became known on the morning of April 30. Previously, he promised that if he was not a prime minister, no one would be elected to this post.

The ruling Republican Party stated that they would not put forward a candidacy for the post of head of the new government, but they did not specify the voting position.

The election of the prime minister in parliament needs 53 votes. To win, Pashinyan needs six votes from the Republican Party faction. The elections are scheduled for May 1.

Pashinyan has been heading street protests that have been in Armenia since mid -April.
