On the anniversary of the start of the American aggression against Iraq, an anti-war rally was held in Moscow.
On Saturday afternoon, Nikitsky Boulevard turned blood red. With posters and revolutionary songs, a battalion of activists from the Union of Communist Youth, Trotskyists, anti-globalists, the Vanguard of the Communist Youth and other radical left organizations protested against the imperialist wars of the last decade.
“No war in Iraq and Chechnya”, “Soldiers - work, Putin in the trenches”, “No war for money, no war for oil” - under such slogans the column of the Youth Left Front marched to Pushkinskaya Square. The main part of the rally took place there.
The organizers of the protest action believe that the nature of the wars of the last decade is the same: the desire of the "dictators" in power to strengthen their personal regime. “So it was in Chechnya, so it was in Palestine, so it was in Iraq, and so it will be until the masses stop this lawlessness with their protest,” Ilya Ponomarev said in his speech. “We are against wars that, under plausible pretexts, are essentially waged for the redistribution of money and black gold,” supported his leader of the AKM Sergei Udaltsov.
Even the indispensable companions of all youth actions - the orders of the city riot police and the police - were animated that day. Instead of the usual vegetal expression of apathy, determination was read on their faces. Yes, and they said somehow in a special belligerent way: “In the event of any extreme manifestations, there is only one conversation: everyone will be captured and expelled,” the “gray” lieutenant colonel categorically minted us.
Although it was not without excesses: Dmitry Rachuk, one of the leaders of the Trotskyist organization, was detained for “obscene language against the fascists”.
