On Tuesday morning, the Californians lined up in line to polling stations even before they were opened. More than 65 percent of voters took advantage of their right to choose. The state did not see such activity from the 1964 presidential election, where Lindon Johnson defeated Barry Goldootore. 11 months ago, when Governor Gray Davis was elected for a second term, the turnout amounted to 50.6 percent.

Voters were to primarily answer the question whether they were advanced for the early termination of Davis's powers. The one who spoke out for the review was supposed to choose one of 135 candidates. It will take several weeks to complete the ballots. But the voting results became known immediately after the closing of polling stations at 8:00 pm on the time of the western coast (7 in the morning Moscow time). The conclusion about the victory of Schwarzenegger is based on the analysis of the results of polls that have already voted in the Californians.

The campaign for the early termination of powers of the governor began in June. Gray Davis attracted the disgrace of voters with his inability to cope with the economic problems of the state, comparable in terms of GDP with France, and by the population - with Argentina. Although the Constitution of California provides for the possibility of an early review of the governor, there were no such precedents in the history of the state, and at first few believed that the idea would succeed. But the collection of signatures under the petition went unexpectedly quickly, the number of supporters of Davis’s review grew rapidly and soon significantly exceeded the necessary minimum.

Arnold Schwarzenegger did not immediately enter the struggle. At first, the most promising of the republican candidates was the Senator of the Legislative Assembly of Tom McClylind. (The main candidate of the Democrats was the Deputy Governor of Cruz Bustamante.) But as soon as Schwarzenegger went to the distance, he became the favorite of the campaign.

In September, an attempt was made to prevent early elections in court. The Federal District Court of Appeal, as part of three judges, ruled that voting with the help of obsolete and unreliable technologies contradicts the constitution, but after a week, gathered in full force, he canceled this decision.

Then dirty technologies were used. Journalists of the newspaper Los Angeles Times found in the Austrian archive the track record of Schwarzenegger's father, mobilized in the police officers. Then an interview with the Terminator was discovered almost 30 years ago, in which he allegedly admired Hitler. It turned out, however, that Schwarzenegger, on the contrary, called Hitler a "disgusting villain", and even the Jewish community of his hometown of the city of Graz described the accusation as a "election trick". Finally, ladies appeared on the horizon, a common score of 15 people who accused the "terminator" of sexual harassment. The question is, where were these women earlier, why did not turn to law enforcement agencies to protect their honor? The wife of Governor Davis Sharon replied that she herself was subjected to male molesters when she was a stewardess and perfectly understands why the ladies were not declared anywhere. The prosecution was put forward so that the accused did not manage to justify himself before the expiration of the term allotted by the law for election campaigning.

As a result, the voter ignored all personal attacks. According to the latest data, for the review of Davis (about which they say that he fully justified his name Gray - “Gray”) 56 percent of the vote, against - 44. Tom McClint, who did not withdraw his candidacy in favor of Schwarzenegger, gained 12 percent. But even without these votes, the Terminator has a haste to defeat the closest opponent-democrat, gathering 52 percent against 30 by Bustamante Cruis. The latter, however, did not lose anything: after all, no one responded, so he will remain as a deputy governor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was born in Austria in 1947. He became one of the outstanding bodybuilders of his time and in 1968 received an invitation to Hollywood. He played his first main role in the 1970 picture "Hercules in New York." The producers assigned him the pseudonym Arnold Strong, because of a strong accent, he was duplicated by the American actor. A real, loud success came to him in 1982 after the film "Conan-Warvar". And two years later, the Terminator era came in his career.

Schwartz, as his fans are called, became a naturalized US citizen in 1983. In 1986, he married John Kennedy Maria Shriver's niece. He never held any administrative posts and invested millions of dollars from his personal funds in the campaign.

Schwarzenegger's victory changes the entire political landscape of the country. He acted in this election as a supra -party candidate, but never hid that he was a convinced supporter of the Republican Party. In 2000, George Bush with a bang lost the elections in California El Gorus. Now the picture has changed - a year before the new elections, the Republicans received an administrative resource. But California in the college of electors owns 54 votes - more than any other state.
