Illiterate history lesson from Governor Beglov

The St. Petersburg governor Alexander Beglov again undertook to draw parallels between the Great Patriotic War and the current special operation in Ukraine.

And, speaking on television, in connection with the day of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the blockade, he said that “representatives of the 12 countries of the modern European Union kept the blockade and that“ Russia is opposed by the same enemies today, they also support neo -Nazis in Ukraine, as Hitler supported their countries 80 years ago ”.

Earlier, he assured that European countries “supply the Nazis weapons in Ukraine as their fathers and grandfathers”, and that these are “precisely those countries that are now trying with the United States to take our entire country.”

The logic in these reasoning, of course, is completely perverted.

Apparently, the speakers of Beglov (or even he himself) are not so familiar with history (at least in the volume of high school) that they do not know that in the Second World War the allies of Germany from European countries were only Italy, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Finland, and only two countries participated in the blockade of Leningrad - Germany and Finland.

They do not know that weapons for the Nazis - forcibly - were made at military factories only those countries that were occupied by Germany, and their governments in exile opposed Hitler. And in the same way, the United States and Great Britain (entering the war with Nazism back in 1939), which then supplied the Soviet Union in significant quantities, were opposed by the Governor of Beglov, and today are the most active critics of the Kremlin.

However,

Most likely we are dealing not with flagrant illiteracy, but with a completely conscious (and diligently practiced) propaganda line. The essence of this line is extremely simple: to identify the current special operation with the Great Patriotic War.

To declare her the same “folk” and “sacred”, providing it - by virtue of historical memory - undeniable public support.

To do this, the society inspire that on the other side, as then, is a “Nazi regime”, and therefore, a special operation is needed to combat it and “liberation” from it.

That on the map, as then, the existence of our state is put.

And therefore, Russia “had no choice”, and it is necessary to continue the special operation until victory.

However, a natural question arises: why does Russia (unlike the USSR during the Great Patriotic War) have practically no allies in this struggle? And why do Western countries not only not support the Russian position, but also help Ukraine in one form or another?

Russian propaganda can answer this question only in one way: having convinced society that during the Great Patriotic War the “collective West” was not an ally, but an enemy. He supported the Nazis and supplied them with weapons. And if today most of the countries of the world does not support the position of Russia and votes to the UN for its condemnation, it means that it must be convinced that it was exactly the same 80 years ago.

This, of course, is the absolute fit of the past under the present.

George Orwell remake “1984”: “Who controls the present - he controls the past,” “The story, like an old parchment, was completely covered and wrote as many times as necessary.”

However, it is not so easy to completely jump out of history: "Anti -Hitler coalition."

And it is not so easy to scatter the words: “Land Lease” and “Second Front”, “Polar Convois” and “Normandy-Neman”, “French Resistance” and “Warsaw Uprising”. And many, many others.

True, we can pretend that there was nothing of this: do not show it on television and not even remember solemn dates. Instead, to tell how they fought “with the whole world” during the Great Patriotic War and won almost alone.

That's where it would be necessary to look for the “falsification of history”, which is said so much in the Kremlin and on propaganda channels about the inadmissibility.

I would not have to look for long - but, of course, they will not look.

And an honest conversation about the war-for example, such as Frontoviki writers Viktor Nekrasov or Nikolai Nikulin -will continue to replace official stamps and popular “reconstruction”, deleting “uncomfortable” episodes and varnishing “convenient”.

Nevertheless, this idea is hopeless.

You can rewrite history textbooks to a favorable power concept (as it happened more than once).

But no one has succeeded in rewriting the story itself.
