The hearing in Lausanne, which, with the filing of the IOC, is conducted by the Denis Oswald commission in three dozens of Russian athletes suspected of manipulations with doping tests at the Sochi Olympics, the Russian side, in fact, lost. It is not possible to cling to legal formalities, it is useless to appeal to the presumption of innocence, there are more and more indirect evidence, and there are fewer hopes for acquittals.
The IOC is about to announce a verdict in the two-fold Olympic champion Bobsleist Alexander Zubkov, the skeletonist and also the Olympic champion Alexander Tretyakov, the silver medalist Olga Fatkulina. The affairs of the biathlonists, the silver winners of the relay races Olga Vilukhina and Yana Romanova, heard on Monday, and Olga Zaitseva, hitherto impeccable star of the Russian female biathlon, completely unexpectedly ended up in the list of suspects. The justification of the Olympic champion in figure skating Adelina Sotnikova did not add optimism.
Such results of the work of the Oswald commission in Russia were not expected. The position of “we don’t know anything about some scratches that are unknown who did and when”, supported by the country's leadership, turned out to be initially losing. The desire of the RF IC to call the chief informant, the ex-head of the Moscow anti-doping laboratory Grigory Rodchenkov, it seems, was perceived as an attempt to shift the problem from the sick head to a healthy one.
As the events develop, the number of “traitors” increases. In the midst of hearings in Lausanne, Wada, in turn, announced that at his disposal the “secret database” of the Moscow Anti -Doping Laboratory was at his disposal - most likely the same attempts to withdraw which heroically stopped the RF IC (which he proudly reported to the public). The Minister of Sports Pavel Kolobkov revealed the names of the alleged informants - Oleg Migachev and Timofei Sobolevsky, who left Russia before the flight of their leader Grigory Rodchenkov. The Investigative Committee suggested that WAD jointly investigate the “secret base”, which looks no more promising than the absentee arrest of Rodchenkov.
Meanwhile, the search for "traitors" among his own began, and the first to hit the skier Ilya Chernousov. According to the famous coach Yuri Borodavko, Chernousov was beneficial to “pass” his colleagues Alexander Legkov and Maxim Vylegzhanin under the pretext that, after their disqualification, it was for him as the third medalist of the ski marathon to get Sochi gold. Chernousov responded briefly with the word “bluff”, but the situation itself looks vile enough.
The commission of Samuel Schmida, who is engaged in the key position of the report by Richard McLaren, is silent so far on the so -called state support system for doping. But the silence seems to be pre -gap. This is all an active flank from which Russia is attacking the IOC.
And on another flank - Wada, whose founders must decide to restore the Russad. According to Kolobkov, this does not directly affect the participation or non -participation of Russian athletes in the Olympic Games. But it is clear that the negative verdict will fall on the “bad” scales of the scales with a heavy load.
“New” has repeatedly written that without a clear response to the first point of the “road map”, which concerned precisely the recognition of the main conclusion of the McLaren report, there was no need to wait a positive result. The answer “there was no and there was no state doping support system”, which President Putin is constantly operating, is only suitable for internal use. But in Seoul, the Russian delegation seemed to go with such a wording and determination not to bend.
So far, there is not the slightest attribute that would testify to the weakening of confrontation. So, you need to prepare for the worst.
