95 years ago, on August 24, 1918, a historian, philosopher and publicist Mikhail Yakovlevich Hefter was born. Since 1970, he actively participated in the dissident movement, was one of the founders and authors of the samizdat magazine “Search”, and in 1982 he voluntarily left the CPSU. He was able to publish in the Soviet press only with the beginning of perestroika, in 1991 he became president of the Holocaust Scientific and Educational Center.
Remaining the Marxist, Hifter considered the revolution in Russia as a catastrophe. In his opinion, capitalism in Russia has not ripened for socialism, but overhered for a purely bourgeois revolution. The underdevelopment of capitalism gave rise to all the zigzags of the revolution and post -revolutionary development.
