Extremists banned from being sailors

On March 30, 2015, the President signed the Federal Law "On Amendments to the Merchant Shipping Code of the Russian Federation with regard to the seafarer's identity card." The corresponding bill was approved by the State Duma on March 17, 2015 and approved by the Federation Council on March 25, 2015, according to the Sova information and analytical center.

According to this law, a ban is established on the registration and issuance of a sailor's identity card to persons included in the "Rosfinmonitoring list" (a list of organizations and individuals in respect of which there is information about their involvement in extremist activities or terrorism). If a person is included in this list, the certificate previously issued to him is withdrawn. The ban on the profession will affect both those convicted and only those accused of extremism - after all, they can be included in the “Rosfinmonitoring list” at the investigation stage.
