StopHam activists have their detention in pre-trial detention center extended in the case of an attack on security forces

The Babushkinsky District Court of Moscow extended until February 18, 2023 the term of detention in a pre-trial detention center for StopHam activists Kirill Bunin, Kirill Kotov and Alexei Gorbachevsky. The creator of the movement, Dmitry Chugunov, reports this on his Telegram channel.

The men are being prosecuted under articles on the use of violence against a representative of authority (Article 318 of the Criminal Code) and hooliganism (Article 213 of the Criminal Code). The reason for the accusations was a conflict with employees of the special unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs “Grom”, which occurred in June.

Earlier, the Babushkinsky court returned the criminal case of the activists to the prosecutor’s office due to violations; the Moscow City Court approved this decision.

On the day of the conflict with the security forces, Gorbachevsky filmed the incorrect parking of one of the cars on the Yaroslavl highway. Inside the car were employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' special unit "Grom". A fight broke out between the police and the activists, and, according to the activists, the police officers themselves attacked them. Three participants in the StopHam movement were injured, one of them was hospitalized.

The next day, a case was opened against the activists, after which the court arrested them.

February 9, 2023. The Moscow City Court rejected the defense's complaint and upheld the extension of the term in the pre-trial detention center for StopHam activists until February 18.

On February 15, the Babushkinsky District Court extended the detention in the pre-trial detention center of StopHam activists Kirill Bunin and Kirill Kotov until March 4. This was reported by SOTAvision.

The third person arrested, Alexei Gorbachevsky, had a lawyer who fell ill; His preventive measure should be extended on February 18.

On March 2, the Babushkinsky District Court on March 1 extended the detention of Bunin, Kotov and Gorbachevsky for another 15 days - until March 20. This was reported in the Chugunov telegram channel.

  • The StopHam movement stands against traffic violations and for mutual respect between drivers. During their actions (raids), activists approach motorists committing traffic violations and ask them to eliminate them. In some cases, a sticker with the text “I don’t care about anyone, I park as I want” is placed on the window of the violator’s car.
