The court in St. Petersburg canceled the fine of a human rights activist detained to announce sentences in the case of a "network"

The St. Petersburg City Court canceled a fine of seven thousand rubles to the human rights activist and the former member of the public observation commission for places of imprisonment (PMC) Yana Teplitskaya. This was reported in its telegram channel the Public Verdict Foundation.

Thus, the City Court declared invalid the decision of the Oktyabrsky District Court, which considered the Teplitskaya guilty of violating the rules of participation in public actions (part 5 of article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) and fined seven thousand rubles. Her case was sent for a new consideration. The human rights activist in court was represented by the lawyer of the Public Verdict Ernest Mesak.

Teplitskaya was detained on June 22 near the court building and delivered to the police department No. 1. There and other detainees were drawn up and released. In total, on that day, the police detained 30 people who came to support the defendants in the case of the “network” Viktor Filinkov and Julia Boyarshinov.

Yana Teplitskaya, until October 2019, was in the PMC of St. Petersburg. Together with Ekaterina Kosarevskaya, she regularly visited political prisoners in the pre -trial detention center, including the defendants in the case of the “network” of Filinkov and Boyarshinov. Thanks to Teplitskaya and Kosarevskaya, it became known about the traces of torture found on the body of Filinkov after the detention in the framework of the criminal case.
