With elders

One of the leaders of the United Democratic Movement "Solidarity" Garry Kasparov met on May 13 in Gdansk with the former President of Poland, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and leader of the Polish Solidarność Lech Walesa. According to the information service of the Russian movement, during a two-hour conversation Walesa questioned Kasparov and Solidarity executive director Denis Bilunov in great detail about the state of affairs in Russia. He promised to come to Russia and speak at an opposition rally - most likely this will happen at the end of the year. Kasparov offered to accept Lech Walesa as an honorary member of the Russian movement and presented the Polish politician with a Solidarity flag and T-shirt. He warned Walesa that in Russia he could face all sorts of obstacles and difficulties associated with organizing meetings and speeches, and communicating with people. To this Walesa replied that he was ready for such a turn of events and for the risk. Following the meeting, Kasparov told Polish journalists that, unlike most Western politicians, including current ones, Walesa did not nod his head and then distance himself from a serious conversation, but immediately proposed specific actions.
