We are preparing for the Island-91 festival, which will be held on August 20 in the Museon Park, and recall the three August days of 1991. Colta.ru thanks everyone whose stories are included in this material.
Come to the Ostrov 91 !
The entrance is free. The program is here .
Anna Babenko : Already entered the university, but was still at home. Osemenator came to inseminate the cow. They decided to family that the insemination date can not be recorded-we will not forget in any way.
Tatiana Malakhova : I then worked in a steep joint venture, where we were paid with a currency that could be realized in a special store. That day I went to this store to buy my daughter sneakers. I am walking on Kutuzovsky in broad daylight, and towards the tank column. In Moscow. On Kutuzovsky.
Gennady Kanevsky : In the Orbita radio store in Smolenskaya in all departments, all receivers were configured to Echo Moscow, which broadcast from a mobile transmitter installed on a truck traveling around Moscow.
Iya Kiva : Dad said that these days he played volleyball with colleagues (we are talking about Donetsk, Ukraine) and playing every presentation accompanied by ironic comments like “Well, for President Yanaev”, “Well, for the Minister of Internal Affairs of Pugo” and so on. It seems that everyone quickly realized that the USSR was already everything, although a few days before that they could not think about anything like that.
Natalya Khorina : There were three Buddhists near the Ukraine Hotel, the mantras sang. The first time I saw real Buddhists so close.
Elka Todres Gelfand : My worst memory is how the Communists were kicked out of the building in Old Square, they left their offices forever, carried boxes with office belongings, bags, and the crazy crowd stopped them and rummaged in their bags and diplomats, in personal things in search of “secret documents”. It was scary to observe.
Svetlana Samojlova - Matvienko : August 19, 1991 I went to take into account pregnancy. This campaign was planned for a long time, but I really did not want to sit in lines in the female consultation in the heat. It was no longer possible to postpone, the vacation ended - I had to go. And now, having received a bunch of directions, I went to the doctors. I am sitting in an armchair at a dentist with an open mouth - and on the radio the announcement of the GKChP is transmitted. The horror declared unimaginable me. It seemed that the beautiful, full of hope was over.
Nikita Yakubovich : I was driving on this day on Lincoln Way in San Francisco, listened to the radio, drove into the red light and received a fine.
Elena Lebedeva : On the escalator, I was struck by many serious, concentrated men, many with backpacks, rising along the escalator to meet us - this was the strongest impression of those days for me that did not leave me today: these were men who are going to the war ...
Elena Zusmanovich : August 19, 1991 I received permission to travel to permanent residence in Israel. As it turned out later, she committed the most reasonable act in her life. Actually, I spent this day in several lines, which was just the best symbol of the completion of my Soviet life. The first stage was in Ovir. The people were sick. I was among the calm and soothing. No matter how the circumstances turn around, with the most gloomy the Bolshevik scenario it is clear that they, who have already received an exit visa, will try to get rid of quickly. They will not be up to us. What could be better? “They are not up to _nas” - the dream of a Soviet man.
Elena LEBEDEVA : A familiar driver said that there was a cake on the Kremlin embankment and he began to scream “Down with the Communists, all on the barricades”, he was successful, and the driver of some concrete mixer very sincerely lamented that he could not go with concrete with everyone to the barricades-“because it is necessary to merge concrete”.
Natalya Goncharova : On August 19, we had to go to Odessa to our relatives, there were already tickets. Mom came and said that it is better not to go - it is not known which country we will return and will return. And we did not go. It was a little sorry with all this greatness of the moment that we did not get to the sea and did not see Odessa.
Boris Lokshin : My friend Venichka called me and yelled into the phone in a terrible voice: “Dude, let's quickly go to the White House! Dude ... Here are such chicks, you can’t imagine ... they give right on the tanks ... ”And then I told my wife:“ Listen. Or maybe I’ll drive up, I will see what is happening there? ” In fact, I joked. Or it seemed to me that I was joking. I really was very offensive to me. But my wife turned pale, and I was scared and did not go. [*]
Julia TRUBIKHINA : I, pregnant in the first months with my daughter Anya, was on the barricades. Two days out of three. On the first night, when it was raining and boys died in the tunnel, I was still at home, but the next day I did not stand up. My girlfriend-medical from St. Petersburg, who was stuck because of the coup in my Moscow, was a medical “team”. In the store somewhere nearby (I don’t remember now), a first-aid post was spontaneously organized and even seems to be organized an improvised “operating room” in case of the wounded, which is now extremely naive. First aid was given to us, of which, to my unspeakable relief, I had to give out only a validol tablet. We had a “our own” barricade with some experienced Afghan guy at the head. There, it seems, even some portable Telik worked!
Elena Zusmanovich : The young American journalist was clinging to the Lancome store and tried to find out who was talking in English. She was very happy about me and began to question, "what the Soviet people think about what was happening." The Soviet people in my face thought that in our St. Petersburg there would be no tanks. We are the "city of three revolutions." Change to the "four" somehow not from the hand, a bad tone.
Leonid Kaganov : I was 19 years old, I was far in the country, and my parents categorically dissuaded me to flee the last train and go to the White House to save the country from the coup. Then, in protest, I shaved baldly.
Almat Malatov : I slept calmly - the holidays, I drank it the day before. Parents came, turned on the radio and began to listen to the news. I asked to give sleep.
“The country is coupled,” the parents said.
“This is not a reason to wake me up.”
I was sure that any historical event in the Russian Federation can oversleep: while you wake up, drink coffee, smoke - everything will become as before. Since then, confidence has only gotten stronger.
Olga Dorozhkina : At the White House was with her husband and friends. We were MAI students, our flag is clearly visible in many photos. When the tanks and armored vehicles left for Volokolamka, I saw how there were a lot of them, I realized that we could be easily crushed - and only then was frightened, very scared.
Aleksandras Budrys : August 19, 1991, I had to begin the honeymoon. A ticket was bought in a sort of sophisticated rest house in Crimea. Grouping money was received. Bought aircraft tickets. Taxi ordered. And here, on you, "Swan Lake". And tanks on the streets. The wife said: "We are not going anywhere!" Me: “Hello, please, hell with him, with Gorbachev, we have a honeymoon, if anyone did not understand!” “You don’t understand, history is happening before our eyes. I don't want to miss it! " And she ran away to the editorial office of Moscow News, where she worked. A week later it ended. And we still managed to snatch a piece of the honeymoon. In the rest house we were met tanned, rested people: "Tell me, did you have something there in Moscow, they say?" On the Crimean beaches, no one noticed anything!
Ekaterina Alexeeva : There was a thousands of rally on the hunchback bridge, and for some reason it was especially remembered by how the Americans stretched out their hands from behind the walls of their embassy and supported us, showing the fingers of V.
Elka Todres Gelfand : my parents were strictly told not to go to the White House, and my beloved boy and I went, sat there on the tank, and I come home, and my mother says: “Well, a Christmas tree. It’s pointless to scold you, but you were shown according to “Good evening, Moscow”. You were sitting on the tank. At the White House. "
Natalya Khorina : on French went. With dad, just through the bridge, and under the bridge someone was already bandaged already. People run, get confused in the thorn, falling, some kind of shooting is heard, tanks, and I stomp on French.
Alex HAIUT : I was in the city of Bucharest, in a hotel, shot "dry" for Jewish retroters on the way to Israel. It was difficult to understand what was happening in Russia, and several hundred talkative Jews spent a day in fortune -telling, joy (as they dumped in time) and sorrow (oh, but how were those who did not have time). On the 20th, early morning at the Ben-Gurion airport, the employees of the Israeli Ministry of Absorption stroked my head, pitying and saying: “Poor boy, my parents there ... He is ... practically an orphan.” Well, we wrote out an orphan orphan.
Vadim Zherdev : On this day, I was with my young wife on a honeymoon in Jurmala. On the 21st morning, we left the room and saw a group of comrades in the lobby around the TV who came with us from St. Petersburg. They watched the official news, there they showed the red -faced generals who explained that everything would be under control and order. During the honeymoon, these things were infinitely far from us, and we naively asked where to “news” and other progressive sources. They looked at us like idiots and said something like “you don’t know at all, or what?!” And something else from the series "Newspapers must be read!" We shrugged and advanced towards the Bulduri railway station. Along the way, we were showered with leaflets from a helicopter. In Russian leaflets called to remain calm and not to give in. It was no longer clear. Above Riga circled a combat helicopter with missiles directed forward and down. On the way to the old city in one of the lanes stood an BMP with punishers in camouflage on the armor. In the old city it was lively, people waving Latvian flags (which then made an impression on their own), rally in Latvian. In some places, concrete blocks were lying-barricades. At the entrance to the cathedral, a neat small piece of paper hung with a “Cathedral” printed on a typewriter. We went to look for a tram in the zoo. You will not believe it, but the zoo was also closed and also without explanation. Well, we just thought that the day today is some kind of strange, and went to the attractions. The attractions worked. The boat station for Kisherases also worked. The people played ping-pong and also looked completely apolitical. All.
Irina Mikhalovskaya : My family lived (and I now live) in the next house to the White House (if you look from the embankment - on the left). I myself was in the States in those days, and my everything is there, on the barricades.
Elena Lebedeva : On the night of the 19th, I spent the night with friends in Khamovniki; I was awakened by the driver of the owners of the house, saying that in Moscow tanks and coup. “God, what a tasteless joke,” I thought. However, some military vehicles were visible from the balcony, the TV was overwhelmed on the “Swan Lake”, and for about an hour there was excited-ethnic, concentrated tension; After the performance of the putschists became calm, I remember my sincere bewilderment from the seriousness of others, because I had a persistent feeling that it was some kind of unhumbered operetta. And then it was fun, and I boasted that I immediately appreciated the coup like operetta. I just was a fool and did not understand anything - neither about the troops, nor about negotiations, nor about weapons in the White House.
Iolanta Dombrovskaya : On August 20, I wandered about three hours in a bright orange jacket in Grodno squares to find some rally. I did not find it. At the end of August, she went to the University of Grodno to Professor Kondratyeva. In the same jacket. The first thing she asked me: "Have you been to the rally?" I say: "There were no rallies." She: "I remembered your jacket - I was there, there were two of us - it means that there was a rally."
Elena Lebedeva : My friend was at that moment in a romantic departure just in the area of Foros, on the eve of the night I read the “Gulag Archipelago”, and, being a daughter of the article that had spent the 58th article, trying to immediately go to Moscow.
Alyosha Prokopyev: we then lived on Kutuzovsky, more precisely, on General Ermolov Street, but this is almost the same thing, Ksyusha was four years old, I kissed her and wife and on a trolley, so, so, reached the White House, stood in line to get behind the already erected barricades, met friends, and then an unforgettable, anxious and happy and happy night Kostra! The most, maybe happy in my life.
NATASHA Vorobyeva: I was in the Pioneer Camp "Mayak" from GOSTEREREID. Parents were very afraid that they would capture us, because: a) then all the television people would have done unquestioningly what they ordered; b) there, in the "lighthouse", has its own broadcast studio, which can be drowned out by Moscow. They returned, as I remember now, on the 24th, we were met by Bether at the GOSTELEDRIO building.
Tatyana Fisher: On September 1, I went to the 5th grade and drew attention to completely bruised teachers.
Iana Tokareva : I was in the United States, preparing for the first “wild” tourist trip on the canoe along the Delaver River in a mixed hippy American-Moscow company. On August 20, a tour of New York was planned. The 19th was raised to the light and reported that in Moscow a coup and my parents strictly forbid me to return home. Since then, New York has been stained for me in twilight-shy-free colors. Fortunately, the return ticket seemed to be on the 30s, by that time panic was resolved, and upon arrival I already found ecstatic festivities, which I joined, spitting on Jetlag, then I lived very close to the epicenter of events, opposite the Ukraine hotel. I met one of my favorite school friends at the White House, we staggering in the center for a long time and even heard the Bravo group playing on one of the squares. I remember this day as one of the happiest in life.
The porcupine L .: My windows overlooked Leningradsky Prospekt. Tanks, tanks were walking along it ... Tankers are young and beautiful, tanks walked slowly, and the tankers managed to compliment literally all the girls on the street. White-toothed smiles, different accents-it seemed unrealistic that they would kill someone ...
Ekaterina Alexeeva : In August of the 91st, I was in the fifth month of pregnancy. In the morning of the 19th we went to work by car, turned from Minsk to Kutuzovsky. “Everything seems to be calm,” I said. "Turn around." She turned her head - a column of tanks followed us. “Lord, will everything be back? In which country will my child be born? " - This is the main thing that I thought about in those days. We worked in Seve, saw from the window what was happening at the White House - how people gathered, how they overlapped Kalininsky trolleybuses to prevent tanks from driving. The daughter was born on December 25, 1991 - on the eve of the day of the collapse of the USSR.
Elena Lebedeva : on the 20th o’clock by four in the afternoon we came to the barricades. The crowd was not very dense; Five meters from us stood a tank. We just stood, it seemed to me that we were standing stupidly and we have absolutely nothing to do. My friend, very sensitive and impressionable, was more tense than mine and, looking around, seriously said to me: “It is dangerous here, and this crime before our parents is that we are here in danger. I ask you - if suddenly everyone runs, throw your umbrella to hell and run, we meet at home, at sports. ” But near the tank men were smoked peacefully with the tankers, and, rightly reasoning that we were zero, we went home.
Elka Todres Gelfand : On the 19th I woke up from the roar. She looked out the window (I lived on Leninsky), and there the tanks go along my avenue. Directly real tanks. Friends came to me, we put a gas spray near the entrance to the apartment, which my brother brought me the day before from Germany for self -defense - like if something, then we have something! Idiots.
Milena Bakonina : On the eve we left with friends in Karelia. Mushrooms-berries-fish. Three wonderful days in the forest, and now we put up cars on the return trip, the radio turned on - in Moscow tanks, shooting, a state coup, horror. The horror was that everyone had young children in Leningrad with grandparents, and nothing is clear. They rushed back very quickly. I remember well the thick cheeks of the smiling son, fattened by my grandmother. And there were a lot of lingonberries in the forest - red glades.
Aleksandras Budrys : I perfectly imagined to myself which side of TASS, where I worked, and decided not to glow. On vacation I am! No me! <...> And went to Moscow News. On Pushkinskaya Square was full of people. In one of the windows, hanging his legs, “Kassandra Khrenov” Alexander Kabakov, who predicted a putsch in his recent novel, sat, and through the speaker announced the latest news that brought the correspondents or transmitted all kinds of radio heads. The work was in full swing. Correspondents resorted and ran away, someone exhausted right at the desktop. Well, I understood where to find application for myself. There was nothing in the buffet except the “White Stork” cognac. So I fell home and fanned the dumplings, of which I had a fair stock in the freezer. And he fed MN employees running past me.
Gennady Kanevsky : On the 22nd we dumped to the White House-to treat the soldiers on the Bether with cigarettes and pies with cabbage and persuade not to shoot at the people. But then the situation was already broken, everyone perked up.
Marina Doroshina : They were with her husband on vacation in Jurmala, rented a room in Kauguri. I don’t really remember how they learned about the events in Moscow, perhaps the hostess said something like that. They began to listen to the radio, some kind of “radio voice” who reported refugees and that the country adjacent to Latvia were ready to accept them as political emigrants. Above the sea, the combat helicopter was constantly circling in combat readiness.
Natasha Braginsky : On August 19, my friend and I stormed the Moscow -Vladivostok train in Birobidzhan, we needed to live in Khabarovsk, settle apartments before the new school year. The crowd, having brought us to the car, nailed in a compartment to some kind of sentenced to Khabarovsk to a journalist from Moscow. “Oh, girls! Come on, say, ”he says joyfully. He looks out the window: “What is it with us? Birobidzhan? Well, what do you have there, in Birobidzhan, there are a lot of mosquitoes? And the Jews? A?
Nikolay Kononov :
Alexandra Grieva :
Fear appeared.
I am not.
Vladimir Gurvich : 19-
- How?!
- I have no idea.
- Tell me please!
-Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Katia Tretiakova :
