Against ATS

On February 4 in Moscow, at the entrance to Sokolniki Park from Sokolnicheskaya Alley, from 18.30 to 20.00 a picket is planned in defense of student Vsevolod Ostapov, accused of attacking a Sokolniki police officer on April 4, 2008. Meanwhile, Ostapov himself and his comrades were severely beaten by police officers that day, as reported at the trial coming to an end. They all deny the fact of an attack on a policeman.

The picket is planned for 100 people.

The criminal case of the beating of eight young people, including four minors, in the police department was not actually investigated and was closed. Only recently, the head of the Investigative Committee under the prosecutor’s office, Alexander Bastrykin, reversed the decision to close the case and demanded that those responsible for red tape and violations during the investigation be brought to justice.

The organizers of the picket demand that all charges against Vsevolod Ostapov be dropped, that the criminal case against the Sokolniki police department be objectively investigated, that those responsible for red tape and violations during the investigation of the criminal case against police officers, as well as fabricating the case against Ostapov be punished, and that the investigator of the Preobrazhensk Prosecutor's Office be dismissed Alexey Kobzar and relieve Gennady Kharlamov of his position as head of the investigative department at the Preobrazhenskaya Prosecutor's Office.
