Appeal

Dear Mr. President! We, friends and colleagues of Magomed Evloev, from the Caucasian independent magazine "Dosh", who knew him closely, without false pathos, as a true patriot and worthy son of his people, we are asking you to perpetuate his memory. In one of the most difficult periods for Ingushetia, when the brutal repressive machine of power and military arbitrariness forced the vast majority of people in the republic to reconcile with violence and corruption, and such shameful phenomena as venal and hypocrisy became ubiquitous, Magomed Evloev stood on an “unpopular” path of combating these public vices. To the best of his human, professional and material capabilities, he defended the rights of the oppressed, and in every possible way helped them personally. Not being a professional journalist, Magomed managed to turn his Internet resource into one of the most famous in the republic and abroad, the most independent and really useful electronic media, which, when properly working in the future, can become a serious factor in the construction of a truly civil society and the development of real freedom of speech. The activities of Magomed Evloev were not limited to the honest coverage of events taking place in Ingushetia. He helped sick children, schools, many cultural figures, art, and writers. He (everyone who knew him remembers it) has no weekends, and indeed no free time. He knew very well that he was seriously risking, doing everything he did. Like many others, dear people, but more ordinary, he could live a calm, beautiful life, getting pleasure from it and increasing his capital. But Magomed chose another way consciously. He was aware that he was walking along the blade of a knife and on August 31 (day of his murder) could come at any moment. He understood everything - and did not retreat. Courageously, heroically walked to the end. There are always units of such people, they make up the color and pride of any nation, the memory of their affairs should be passed on from generation to generation. Mr. President! In order to perpetuate this memory, we ask you to name one of the streets in the capital of Ingushetia Magas or in his native Malgobek by the name of Magomed Evloev and establish a journalistic prize of him named after the best articles and materials on a human rights theme and the theme of corruption.
