Today in Vladimir there is a debate of the parties in the case of Georgy Alburov, an employee of the Anti-Corruption Foundation founded by Alexei Navalny, who is accused of stealing a painting by the Vladimir artist Sergei Sotov "A bad and a good man."
During his speech in the debate, the public prosecutor Stepan Volodin asked the court to sentence Alburov to three years of probation.
Prosecutor Volodin, according to Mediazona, during the debate explained why Alburov’s deed should be qualified as theft: Sotov did not give anyone permission to remove his paintings from the fence, they were freely available, but no one had the right to dispose of his property . The victim has the right to his work.
The prosecutor also noted that the damage caused to Sotov can be considered significant, in support of his words, he recalled the amount of Sotov's pension and the salary that he receives as a janitor.
According to the public prosecutor, the guilt of the accused during the process was proved. The artist Sotov organized his exhibitions on the fence for four years, checking the safety of his works. According to the prosecutor, at first the artist did not want to go to the police, because he thought that no one would deal with his case. But on the advice of a passerby, he decided to apply.
“In the visual arts, there is a direction that is incomprehensible to an ordinary person - abstractionism,” continues Volodin. - Sotov is an unusual person, there are fewer and fewer of them. In Moscow, there are probably no such people at all. I am talking about this because the cost of the painting depends on the personality of the author, ”said the prosecutor.
