The Russian Lawyers' Association proposes to radically reform the Russian police, dividing it into three parts. As Vedomosti writes from the words of a member of the Presidium of the Association, the Federal Police will be allocated from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which will deal with the fight against the most dangerous crimes such as corruption, terrorism, extremism, the actions of organized criminal groups, the police, whose powers will include the protection of public order and crime prevention , and the National Guard, which will include paramilitary units of the ministry. It is also possible to create a single investigative committee, which will remove the investigation from the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Co-chairman of the Association of Lawyers, Chairman of the Accounts Chamber Sergei Stepashin said that the creation of a professional police is a resolved issue. According to him, the traffic police should also be divided into a car inspection and a road safety service.

Another resolved issue, according to a politician close to the presidential administration, is the imminent resignation of Nurgaliev, who could be replaced by Stepashin, the newspaper writes. In exchange, Nurgaliev will be given the Accounts Chamber. Let us recall that Stepashin served as Minister of Internal Affairs in 1998-1999.

But so far there have been no decisions; the meeting of the annual board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the participation of the president will be held in mid-February.
