Four members of illegal armed formations were killed on Saturday on the border of Chechnya and Ingushetia, RIA Novosti reports citing a source in law enforcement agencies of Ingushetia.
One of the killed militants called himself "Emir of Ingushetia," said Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov, who arrived in the area of the special operation. At the same time, he is the brother of the so-called "Minister of Defense of Ichkeria" Rustaman Makhauri, who was detained on Wednesday. Kadyrov explained that it was he who provided information about the whereabouts of the bandits.
"In the area of the village of Arshty, during a special operation, the leader of the bandits, Azamat Makhauri, nicknamed Yasir, who called himself the Emir of Ingushetia, was killed. Three more members of the gang were killed along with him," Kadyrov said.
Rustaman Makhauri, nicknamed "The Bear", was, according to operational data, the personal bodyguard of the leader of the militants, Doku Umarov. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Chechnya, he is involved in a whole series of grave and especially grave crimes.
Over the past week, more than 20 militants have been killed in the area of the special operation on the Chechen-Ingush border.
