The director of the Raspadskaya mine, Igor Volkov, wrote a letter of resignation of his own free will, and, as Interfax reports, citing sources, it was satisfied. In general, this action is more than logical after the public rebuke that Prime Minister Vladimir Putin gave Volkov. Although it is strange that these messages did not arrive immediately - for some time the company’s press service still stated that Volkov was participating in the work to eliminate the consequences of the accident. For the time being, the general director of the Raspadskaya Coal Company, Gennady Kozovoy, will serve as director of the mine - the same one who boasted to everyone left and right about how high the miners' salaries are, which the miners themselves called a lie. No one touches the goat.
Putin, as Kommersant writes, at a meeting with government officials, mine owners and people responsible for eliminating the consequences of the accident, noted that the number of deaths in Kuzbass mines has not decreased in recent years, although more money has been invested. Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov told him that safety violations at Raspadskaya had been recorded before and they were even going to fire the managers, but they never did. Putin dwelled on this separately: “Rostekhnadzor at Raspadskaya went to court four times regarding the disqualification and dismissal of the current director of the mine, Volkov, who is still sitting among you!” - he said. After this, Putin called Volkov a “citizen.” Kommersant notes that the prime minister said nothing about increasing wages for miners - only about a conditional increase in the permanent part of wages from 48 to 70%.
Later, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee at the Prosecutor's Office, Alexander Bastrykin, decided to bring Volkov to criminal responsibility. According to SKP official representative Igor Markin, other mine managers will also be involved, but he did not specify which ones.
As for Kozovoy, he cheerfully reported to the prime minister that he was helping the families of the dead miners (“35 minor children have been identified,” he said) and calling on the protesting miners “not to become limp.”
The governor of the Kemerovo region, Aman Tuleyev, among other things, again spoke about some troublemakers, “destructive people” who supposedly go to Kemerovo and muddy the waters from foreign sites - British, Ukrainian and even Moscow.
