In Paris, at the age of 86, the French fashion designer Emanuel Ungaro died. It is reported by AFP with reference to the relatives of the couturier.

Emanuel Ungaro began his career in the mid-1950s and for several years worked as an assistant in the studio of the fashion designer Christobal Balenciagi.
In 1965, Ungaro opened his own fashion house. The peak of its popularity fell on the 1970-1980s. Among the clients of Ungaro were the former first lady of the United States Jacqueline Kennedy and French actress Catherine Deneuve.
In the mid-1990s, couturier sold a controlling stake in his company to the Italian brand Salvatore Ferragamo. In 2005, Ungaro went out of fashion.
