“The crucifixion of Christ is the pinnacle of His career. And the achievement of this peak would be impossible without Judah, the main creator of the legend, ”says Nikita Pozdnyakov about a series of painting“ Exodus ”. “That is why there is no Judas on the scenes of the crucifixion - just the same, no one knows the person who wrote music for the dolphin.”

In this series, the artist depicts the crucifixion scene in an unexpected entourage: around the Son of God, suffering from human sins, soldiers dance an apple, village men play on the accordion, and schoolgirls are spinning in a round dance. Jesus appears before the audience in the gloomy Soviet city landscapes, then in deserted half -abandoned snowy villages, then generally behind a fence of barbed wire surrounded by military observation platforms. The angels accompanying the hero are transformed either in flying horned creatures, then into wingless warriors, then in small barely noticeable birds, or in the plane indifferently dissecting the sky. In the Bible, the outcome is interpreted as the liberation of the Jews from slavery in Egypt, the “outcome” in the paintings of Pozdnyakov means the death of a symbol of love and hope, the desecalization of the divine people in the form of people in the form and factories that smoke heaven.
