Survive the USSR

The leaders of the leading countries of the world came to Jerusalem to congratulate the Israelis on the 60th anniversary of their state. But the leaders of the country, which was the first to recognize Israel de jure, among them-simply because there is no more such a country.

Six decades ago, the Government of the Soviet Union was the first in the world to decide on the diplomatic recognition of the state of Israel. There were months of uncertainty ahead - and decades of tense and by no means always diplomatic relations that have not been much easier after the disappearance of the Soviet Union from the political map of the world. But if, then, six decades ago, the Soviet leaders said that the young Jewish state that appeared in the ring of enemies would survive a powerful empire, they would hardly believe such a forecast.

New generations, perhaps, do not understand that these decades were not only a time of confrontation in the Cold War, Moscow’s attempts to establish itself in the Middle East with the help of Arab allies, peacekeeping and the desire to prevent the peacefulness of the region at all costs. These were also decades of jealousy. Jealousy to a country built in many ways by the hands of those who should continue to work for the benefit of the Soviet Union. Israel was actually just a factor in the foreign policy of Moscow. He was also a factor in its domestic policy, and often more powerful than the interests of confrontation with the West and preserve the world socialist system.

Turned into a huge prison for its citizens, the Soviet Empire issued compatriots in essence in the same country of the world-the state of Israel. In the interests of the Soviet Union, there was that the experiment would not be successful. In order to once again tell their fellow citizens that there is nowhere to go and do not need. To prove to themselves that only the most stupid slaves leave the gallery - while the rational and hardworking continue to stubbornly row or at least depict the movements of oars.

The fact that Israel has survived and was built has become a real challenge to the Soviet Union. Because among its builders and defenders there were many immigrants from the very advanced country in the world. The life experience of these people proved that when a person builds his own country, he can much more than when exists in the conditions of ridiculous evidence of the correctness of a meaningless ideology. Israel survived because he was real. The Soviet Union died because he was invented. So it should have happened.

The moment of truth came when the citizens of the former Soviet Union had a really historical chance to build their own states, their own "Israel", no longer constrained by the conventions of communist myths and the need to participate in the confrontation of superpowers. And then it turned out that building is much more difficult than portraying.

Modern Russia, even in the era of inflated oil prices, did not become a state with modern infrastructure, developed technologies involved in political life by the population. Her now, the former president, a few days before the Israeli anniversary, advertised his main product-energy carriers-the Prime Minister of Greece. And he explained to the guest that everything that the Russian president, wearing, can be bought in France, Germany, Italy - but you can’t buy gas there. And the Israeli president cannot boast of this product. But he wrote a book about nanotechnology. And this is nonsense of course. It’s the same as boasting the Torah at the time when everyone else had bows with arrows in innumerable.

All these years of the contradictory Russian state experiment, thousands of former Soviet citizens continued to participate in the construction of Israel. They made the only possible choice - they left themselves and took their children from the past to the future. From the world where they sell and spend, in a world where they try to build and survive. This is an imperfect world. But he is still much more like the real one.
