The Dalai Lama, smiling from TV screens in the company of the President of the United States, George Bush, is an exotic picture that is unlikely to be transferred from Washington to Moscow. After all, the arrival of a figure in the Russian capital, which causes a persistent rejection of the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, cannot but cause fears for every patriotic citizen.
And if I did not remember how, together with other journalists, I walked along with Dalai Lama in the Kremlin during his visit to Russia, I would believe that the leg of the spiritual leader of the Buddhists could not step on the ground of the country's friendly China. If it were not for the preparations for the visit of the Dalai Lama to Tuva, some kind of children's trepidation that the only luxury in the Republic was removed, preparing for the arrival of a high guest, would consider the question of such a visit an exclusively foreign policy event that could not be related to the future of the Russian state.
But I saw all this. By the way, I do not recall any special foreign policy stress. I suspect that China has already existed then. And his leadership belonged to the Dalai Lama without much positive emotions. Which did not prevent Russian diplomacy from finding opportunities to ensure the arrival of the spiritual leader of the Buddhists in Russia. And the Chinese communists had to reckon with the obvious fact of the presence in Russia not just people professing Buddhism, but entire Buddhist republics. And this is logical - if you want these people to be patriots of Russia, then you should respect them, and not your possible allies on the foreign policy scene.
Because in a normal state, the interests of internal stability and unity cannot but prevail over foreign policy calculations. And the religious feelings of Russian Buddhists are the same value for each leader of the country as the religious feelings of the Russian Orthodox. And if all this leadership at full pairs rushes to the church to hold candles in the company of the Patriarch, and the president of the country is present at the unification of the Russian and foreign branches of Orthodoxy, then his fellow citizens, Buddhists deserve the right to meet their spiritual leader at home. Otherwise, what kind of house is this?
But now other times. In foreign policy, the ideology of mythological resistance to the Russian shores to imperialism defeated the ideology of the mythological resistance. And to sacrifice this policy of the country itself is a familiar matter. That is why militants from Hamas who visit Russia on the personal initiative of President Vladimir Putin are now walking around the Kremlin. We will never meet the Dalai Lama here. The Dalai Lama finally became an all-around. And in Tuva, the Russian leader, along with the prince of Monaco, goes to hunt. And Buddhists or judokas live there, he doesn’t care. If only there was a game.
