Starting next year, the indexation of pensions will be restored in full for inflation of the previous year. This was stated by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at the Congress of United Russia, Interfax reports .
“We understand that life becomes more expensive. Prices for medicines are growing, for products, although we are trying to restrain them as much as possible,” Medvedev said. “United Russia proposes to restore the indexation of pensions in full to inflation of the previous year from next year. Our party will also seek other social payments, compensation and benefits.”
This year, pensions were indexed by 4 percent. According to Rosstat, the inflation rate in 2015 amounted to 12.9 percent. The government announced a possible second indexation of pensions in 2016, depending on the economic results of the first half of the year.
On May 24, Medvedev, speaking of a pension with a resident of Feodosia, said that the state has no money to raise pensions. “The prices are frantic,” one of the women complained to the premiere. According to her, pensions in the region are incorrectly calculated and indexed, and it is impossible to live for 8 thousand rubles a month. “What is eight thousand? We wipe our legs about us! We have worked for 45 years, we have nothing to pay,” the woman asked.
The prime minister replied that the indexation of pensions is now "nowhere to nowhere." “There is simply no money now. We will find money - we’ll make an indexation,” Medvedev explained. “You keep here, all the good, good mood and health.”
On May 28, President Vladimir Putin said that the prime minister’s words could be torn from context and incorrectly understood. At the same time, Putin noted that he was not familiar with Medvedev’s statement. “I don’t know anything about this, but I know for sure that the government, of course, pays great attention to the fulfillment of social obligations,” the president said. “Of course, in the conditions of today's difficult situation with the budget, the government is forced to look for various options for resolving these issues.” Putin emphasized that on this issue he personally regularly collects meetings with representatives of the social and economic bloc of the government.
"And what options can be? Either indexing social benefits, including pensions, without even consideration, for example, with budget revenues, or try, on the one hand, to index on a value, but take all measures to suppress inflation," Putin said. On the one hand, people seem to try to do something good, and firing out the inflation, leading to the north The result is not an easy, subtle task to be reduced to zero. ”
