When the newly appointed President of the Russian Federation suddenly refused to go to Washington for the G8 summit, experts and analysts, both ours and the West, all put forward a lot of versions of what this gesture should mean, what “message” it is intended to convey to world leaders and what political twists behind this are covered. All bullshit - or at least nothing more than a side dish to the main motivation.
And this motivation is purely personal and consists in the fact that it is very chilly and unpleasant for Vladimir Putin (as, strictly speaking, for any person) to find himself in a company where everyone completely does not like you, and where unanimous is clearly visible behind cold handshakes and forced smiles " It would be better if you weren't here, dude ... ".
In the past, the attitude was softer, and there was a scandalous friend of Berlusconi, with whom Putin in the G8 formed a faction of "semi-outcasts" ... and now, of course, a complete rotten thing. And the benefit would still be hated, but at the same time they were afraid and considered a tough guy - however, opponents have absolutely nothing to tremble with. From fake military parades and timid blackmail at the oil and gas valve, everyone has long been bored, and only planes and satellites periodically falling in different parts of the planet pose some threat ... Plus questionable legitimacy, a noisy and personally focused protest movement, young girls in prisons, as an indicator of "stability ". Camping set leader-loser.
Well, okay, no one abroad, except for a handful of the doomed, needs Putin. This, of course, is not the best news for him, especially considering offshore bases, but not critical either. By all appearances, things aren't much happier in the native land - and I don't even mean the diverse opposition. In the realm of domestic politics, the diagnosis can be made by yet another decision by Vladimir Putin, which caused a fit of jaw-dropping that was no less severe than the refusal to meet with the G8.
True, all our political scientists assessed this incident correctly: the appointment of the head of the workshop as the plenipotentiary representative for the federal district is not so much a game of populism as a demonstration of the utmost distrust of one's own, "Putin's" elite!
I just want to note that this act is much cooler than, say, Brezhnev's co-opting of his former driver Chernenko, first in the Central Committee, and then in the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPSU: Leonid Ilyich knew Konstantin Ustinych for many years and, they say, loved - and Putin put forward, in fact, the first person he came across, who suddenly attracted him with his "selfless devotion." Note that there was only one such “faithful Ruslan” in the whole country... And this is not surprising: the self-appointment of Vladimir Vladimirovich as president was an act of obvious tyranny and marked the beginning of the slow but sure suicide of the post-Yeltsin regime. Not only were the hopes of the middle class to bring Russia into line with the realities of the 21st century were dashed; the ambitions of the most dynamic representatives of the power elite and the entire "technocratic" community were also under attack. Medvedev, of course, turned out to be an obedient boy, but this orphan longing in his eyes from September 24 ... In short, everyone understands: the notorious “castling” was carried out by Putin to please himself and his closest circle, and to the detriment of almost everyone else. And when Vladimir Vladimirovich walked along the red carpet of the Kremlin to take the oath through the line of flatteringly smiling beneficiaries of the Russian state, the same phrase was unmistakably guessed in the cheerful splash of applause: “it would be better if you weren’t here, dude ...” In the public domain and in a more concise form - “Russia without Putin” – the same thesis rushed synchronously, dodging batons, along the boulevards and squares around the Kremlin…
And what remains in the asset of the "national leader" - the "inner circle", friends? Here I am not particularly knowledgeable, but, apparently, their ranks also suffered losses:
connections with the oilman Timchenko have to be stopped and conspired; the judoka Rotenberg, according to rumors, so rolled out his appetites that he fell out of favor; political and economic problems arose with the financier Kudrin, and with the goddaughter (again, according to rumors) Ksenia Sobchak, they completely fled to different sides of the barricades. Native family: both daughters live incognito abroad, wife Lyudmila was shown in the company of her husband twice in two years (I will keep silent about rumors) ...
"Putin without Russia", "Putin and the Void"... In this picture of total desolation, Marquez's prose, and even Shakespeare's tragedies, are imagined! But the small figure of Vladimir Vladimirovich does not deserve such comparisons.
But he deserved his loneliness, and to the fullest. This man-made loneliness is like the streets and avenues of Moscow licked from people, like a neutron bomb, during the control ride of the presidential cortege. The ideal Russia, according to Putin's paranoid logic, is a country free from the people.
There are enough trained security forces guarding natural resources; lured priests instructing and entertaining enforcers; and masses of dumb slaves (say, from North Korea) serving the pumping of natural resources. And everyone who doesn't like it - dumped ...
Volodya, our country will never become SUCH stable. So it would be better if YOU were not here, dude!
