On August 9, an oxygen pipe broke out in the North Ossetian Republican Clinical Hospital of the Emergency Medical Assistance. As a result of the accident, 9 people died. The hospital located in Vladikavkaz accepts the most severe patients with Covid from all over North Ossetia. Many of them are connected to the apparatus of artificial ventilation.

According to the official version, at 17.15 outside the hospital building, at a depth of about one and a half meters there was a breakthrough of the oxygen pipe. Patients connected to Ivl for several minutes stopped receiving oxygen. 9 patients died. Back in March 2021, the inspectors of Rostekhnadzor drew up a protocol at the hospital under the article “Violation of industrial safety requirements”.

In April, they turned to the Republican Ministry of Health, with the requirement to put the system in order. The press service of Rostekhnadzor also confirmed this information. And today we can say that in the Republican Ministry of Health, even before the tragedy, they knew about problems in the oxygen system of KBSP.

S.T. : “There is oxygen, everything is, everything is available. Today we also expect delivery, all barrels will be filled. ”

CM. : “Soslan Arkadievich [Tebiev], I ask the question: are we serving or not? If oxygen wiring does not work or there is a failure somewhere, then the most important task is to those who are on the Ivl, to serve this oxygen, in fact, oxygen is served? ”

S.T. : “Oxygen is served, but there is a decrease in pressure, so these specialists are now going, watching what is the reason.”

CM. : “Understand, I say again, it is vital (...) today a mixture for patients who lies on the devices of the Ivl. If there is a need, let's transfer to other hospitals for now or insure with oxygen concentrators or somehow. [Go] there, in the KBSP, to make sure that oxygen is actually submitted to the sick, and your sentences from there, a report, what needs to be made if there is a failure. ”

After the tragedy, on August 10, the Ministry of Health confirmed information about the work on laying the reserve oxygen supply line on the territory of the KBSP, while noting that the specialists examined only the visible part of the oxygen wiring, and the breakthrough occurred underground.

Nevertheless, on the past evening on Tuesday, a meeting of the operational headquarters to prevent the importation and dissemination of a new coronavirus infection in the territory of the North Ossetia -Alania information about the inconsistency of equipment in the KBSP by the technical regulations, Sergei Chanipolo confirmed.

“Unfortunately, not a very personally pleasant picture emerges. So far, according to preliminary data, [oxygen] containers that were delivered 6–8 years ago, it turns out, without documents.

Accordingly, they were not examined, well, a number of questions. We must figure out this situation: how it was done, who did, how it was accepted, how it was handed over, how it was put into operation. This is in parallel the Investigative Committee, ”said the acting head of the republic.

He also noted that a licensed company with the experience of an audit of such oxygen systems will arrive in the republic and check them in all medical facilities of North Ossetia.
