Once the Zorny group was called “19:84” , and its leader Vasily Zorni promised to perform with his songs in stadiums. Seven years later, the promise turned: recently the Moscow group played at the Olympic stadium in front of Imagine Dragons. “Girl” is in many ways a swing song for our group. In the song and the video itself, a lot of different meanings, things that I thought important for me, suddenly had a very personal story for me and the director Kirill Kulagin. We made this clip for ourselves and to ourselves, not at all thinking how it would be perceived, it was important for us to fix our thoughts at that time. There are a lot of details in the video, about which we know only we, and some references that are important for us and only we know.

It all started with the fact that my friend showed me Instagram Zhenya, where she simply talked about her life. And we all stuck for a very long time. The wife was very few years old, but in these videos there were some very sincere and charming truth, some super-fluid observations about the world, about life around, and it was very clear how a person was changing every day-and to watch life, especially in the period when it is rapidly changing, terribly interesting. Cyril and I wanted to make a song about this age of adolescents, when the head is too big, the legs are too long when no one understands you when any problem seems huge. We met Zhenya, and both were struck by how much life, charm and some meaningfulness, talent, and immediacy in her.

We began to make this clip for a completely different song, I had a hellish period of severe depression, I wrote very sad, complex music, taught musical theory, painfully, collected music on crumbs. I still work on this project, but I absolutely do not understand what to do with it, because it is so multi -layer, very close to academic, depressive, massive music. And we could not finish the video and the song. At some point, I closed in the room and drunk monstrously-and then I finished that track, but it seemed to me that it was still not at all what needed.

And then we talked with Zhenya, who first ended up in Japan, working as a model. She had never left the house for a long time before, and then she ended up in a completely different country, where everything works wrong, everyone speaks an incomprehensible language, completely different people, everything is incomprehensible, and she was very sad and lonely. And I began to make the song "Girl" about her. Then, as is often the case in work, for example, on the script, the image became collective, my relationship with other people began to fly into the song, some events of my life, meetings, and romantic relationships. She began to gradually separate from my specific life experience, and for the first time I wrote a song at some distance from myself. A song where there is a lyrical hero and a collective image of the heroine. This song is about many of my friends and generally about relationships between people. About an important message that one person can give another.

It has a very different text in it, it is all similar to poster slogans, abstracts, statements. He all diverges into fragments that do not break up. But this puzzle could be assembled differently, and another song would have turned out. I treated the text as samples, and this is a completely different musical approach. I began to study a lot of how other musicians are approaching the writing of texts: for example, the method used by Bowie - C UT U P , borrowed from William Burrose; This technique is also used by Tom York, it was used by Kurt Cobain - when you take the text, cut it into fragments and collect it in different order. We got another music - more electronic, transparent, not overloaded. A completely different message than before was in my songs.

There are a lot of trips to the Kamchatka camp from my experience, especially last year, when we talked a lot with people just in the period of 14-17, about everything in the world, constantly listening to the song “Eternal Explosion” by Kirill Ivanov ; This quote, the association is also in the song, and it is quite obvious.

We have not released the song for almost a year, during this time there was a million in total: I focused on music, we began to play a lot of concerts. The first time we played it in front of 3,000 people at the warm -up of Tom Odell, and it was clear that this song fell into so many listeners: dozens of messages wrote to me when we released it and where it was before. Then there were dozens of concerts, one of the most important moments in my life - the warm -up of Imagine Dragons in the Olympic, when we performed before 30,000 people. We released the performance in the Gogol Center, I had a sister with whom we did not communicate for the 33rd of the previous year, in general, I became a completely different person. During this year, Zhenya from the novice model has become a real pros, she has been working at shows throughout Europe for months, has changed, grew up, became more serious and understood a thousand of some things to herself. And now we met to discuss another, completely different clip, and said how surprisingly watch a video that was shot only a year ago, and during this time the universe of events flew from each of us. From this the idea of ​​the credits was born, which at some point begin to talk a little with you. Such a crazy translator.
