Favorite publication invites readers to help it with self-identification
No matter how hard scientists try in their research laboratories, for several years now they have not been able to find an answer to the question “What is TJournal?” TJournal's editor-in-chief invites readers to formulate a collective vision of what the project really is, and thus help it identify itself.
Readers often ask the editor how they can help the project: they offer to send food, give us a cat, work for us for free, or, worse, transfer money. To such proposals, we modestly respond that begging does not correspond to our ideology. However, we still need help. For example, with self-identification.
We constantly run into problems when it comes to explaining what TJournal is. First of all, when communicating with advertisers, to whom the phrase “we are an aggregator of everything important and write about what is popular on the Internet” means nothing. Most of them want the project to turn into a narrowly targeted media, writing, for example, exclusively about gadgets - because it’s easier to sell advertising.
But we disagree with them, because we sincerely believe that we have found some kind of unique (albeit far from perfect) format. That we are no longer talking about classical media - we are a community of interests. One of the employees calls the project the information radar of the RuNet: we reflect everything that is loud and important. Some readers call us “a publication about the Internet” and invite us to delve into boring news like “Rostec acquired 20% of Yota.” Others say that TJournal monitors everything that happens, but through the lens of the Internet. And some people only read scandals and interviews.
Today we want to ask our most loyal readers: who are you, what do you do, how often do you visit the site and what does TJournal mean to you? Your answers will help the project self-identify and they will form the basis for the next version of TJ, which we are already starting to design.
Both laconic and expanded versions are interesting. It will be absolutely perfect if we leave this party with the answer to the question “What is TJournal?” in one short sentence.
