The leader of A Just Russia, Speaker of the Federation Council Sergei Mironov called on his party colleagues not to enter into alliances with United Russia during the election campaigns.

“No agreements with United Russia, no pre-election blocs. We should never follow this path,” Kommersant quotes the speaker as saying. Mironov provided a theoretical basis for this: “If we have taken upon ourselves the task of building a new socialism, our party has no right to support United Russia candidates in any elections.”

Thus, A Just Russia became the last of the Duma parties to refuse to enter into alliances with the ruling party. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the Liberal Democratic Party have already said their word a little earlier. But Mironov, it seems, wants to interfere with United Russia personally: he is going not only to visit the subjects of the federation, in which members of his party will run for parliament or compete for the chairs of heads of municipalities, but also to head the lists in all regions. He clarified that his party is actually against this principle, when a well-known politician stands at the head of the list, drags the rest into parliament, and then surrenders the mandate (such politicians are called “locomotives”), but “if we go this way, then the United Russia is more likely to pass a law banning steam locomotives.
