Artist The Oatmeal received funding for the museum by tweeting his comic to Elon Musk
Artist Matthew Inman, known under the nickname The Oatmeal, received funding for the Nikola Tesla Museum by sending Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk his comic on Twitter.
On May 13, the creator of the humorous website The Oatmel posted on Twitter a link to his new work - a humorous illustrated review of the Tesla Model S. In a tweet, he addressed the head of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk, saying that at the end of the material the latter would have a small request.
. @elonmusk I wrote a review of my Model S, and then asked you for a little favor here http://t.co/qRViX5M6fb

Inman's review of the car consists of two parts. The first of them, in a humorous way, tells what it’s like to own a Tesla: how the car charges, how far it can travel on one charge, and how it’s controlled from a smartphone. For example, Inman notes that the Tesla S handles like a Ferrari that slept with a dragon.
The second part of the material is dedicated to the inventor Nikola Tesla. In it, Inman explains why the famous engineer and physicist is one of the greatest men of all time. In addition, he explains that Tesla Motors is named after him because it uses engines in its cars that Tesla patented back in 1888.
Finally, Inman reports that after publishing the Nikola Tesla comic strip in 2012, one of the artist's most successful works, he learned that the scientist's former laboratory in New York was up for sale and could eventually be demolished and turned into another retail outlet. .
To preserve the historic site, he launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, with which he raised more than $1.3 million. However, these funds are not enough to open a museum named after him in Tesla’s laboratory: another $8 million is needed, so Inman decided to turn directly to Musk, who took part in raising funds for the museum back in 2012, but as one of the crowdfunders.
A day after the comic was published, Musk responded to Inman’s tweet with a request, saying that he would help fund the museum.
@Oatmeal I would be happy to help
