Moscow has set a quota for foreign labor migrants of 600 thousand people per year, RIA Novosti reports. According to the new migration law, which comes into force in January 2007, migrants will have to provide registration not at their place of residence, but at their place of stay, in order to obtain a work permit. According to the head of the interregional relations committee, Alexey Alexandrov, “the place of stay can even be a telephone booth.” We can only hope that the innovations will somehow simplify the registration procedure.
