Victor Krasin died

On September 3, an economist, human rights activist and dissident Viktor Krasin died in Israel at the age of 88.

Viktor Alexandrovich Krasin was born in 1929 in Kyiv, in 1947 he entered the psychological department of the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University, in January 1949 he was arrested for criticism of Marxism-Leninism and sentenced to five years of camps.

In 1949-1954, he was in prison, after liberation he graduated from the Economic Department of Moscow State University, defended his thesis, worked as a researcher at the Central Economic and Mathematics Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

Since the mid-1960s, he participated in the propagation and distribution of samizdat, signed and distributed letters of protest, participated in the publication of the Chronicle of Current Events, was one of the creators of the initiative for the protection of human rights in the USSR, and in 1969-1971 was in exile.

In 1972 he was arrested with Peter Yakir, pleaded guilty and testified for 200 participants in the human rights movement in the USSR.

Since 1975 he lived in the USA, in 1983-1991 he worked for Radio Liberty. The author of the books "Court" and "Fruit: Notes of the Anti -Communist."
