What is the elderly with a diagnosis of Cancer in Russia? The photographer Kristina Syrchikova spent a year with a woman who, desperate to cope with the disease, sewed a funeral dress.

My heroine, an elderly woman, fought cancer for several years. It was treated in hospitals, passed several courses of chemotherapy, went to church, went to healers, was treated with folk methods. She tried everything and believed in her healing.

At some point, she dropped her hands and stopped believing. She sewed her funeral dress.

Doctors began to wave their hand more actively, redirecting it from one hospital to another. Most doctors told her that everything from old age, ignoring the fact that this or that symptom appeared a week or a month ago. The doctors also refused to treat a woman when they found out that she had oncology, refused to take her under various pretexts.

She wound a lot around hospitals, practically lived in them, no one wanted to deal with her. In the last hospital, she spent a week and completely stopped getting out of bed. She was discharged from the hospital, and two hours later she died at home at her relatives.
