Last week, the fourth Ural Music Night festival was held in Yekaterinburg - a mass musical holiday, which gathered 2500 musicians from 26 countries. The correspondent of Colta.ru visited the festival and was convinced that this experience should be transferred to other major cities of Russia.
The sounds of music are already heard by the building of the Koltsovo Airport, where the VIA Tatyana retrogroup is acting. For one evening, the entire center of the capital of the Urals turns into a festival site, on which more than 100 scenes are located this year; Some of them are intriguing with names like the “nuclear complex of the atom construction complex” or “music of closed windows”. The genre range is impressive: from the arias of operas, which are performed directly from the balcony of the opera theater, to hip-hop, which is dedicated to the scene called "Terrier", where the noi z e mc became the headliner.
Evgeny Gorenburg, an active participant in the Sverdlovsk rock club, the leader of the TOP group, the president of the Dynamo-Hockey Hockey, and the organizer of the Old New Rock festival, which takes place in Yekaterinburg in January, came up with a Ural Music Night. Since 2015, the audience of Ural Music Night has increased from 70,000 to 200,000. In addition to sponsorship money, a significant part of the budget of 42 million rubles was covered by a presidential grant of 10 million. Entrance to all Ural Music Night sites is fundamentally free - however, 95% of musicians do not receive fees for their performances.
Among the participants of the festival there is no singer of a coin - the most loud musical exports from Yekaterinburg of recent times. She, along with her friend, buckwheat these days is shot in a new video in St. Petersburg. But the program has many ethnic Ural groups, the Sansara group with vocalist Sasha Gagarin and the Yekaterinburg guitarist Andrei Karlshev , playing in a rare ten -stringed instrument - a sticking tapping technique. The geography of the origin of the participants extends from Russia to Japan, from where almost 9,000 kilometers flew by the performer on the flute of Syakuhati Kidzan Dayoshi.
© Alexander Osipov Magical MarginalsOn the shore of the city pond, we are met by the leader of the Chayf group Vladimir Shahrin, who recently published the author’s guide to the capital of the Urals “Yekaterinburg in an orange mood”. During the tour, he tells how the boy was looking for shells in Ipatiev’s house, where Nicholas II and his family were shot, about the war of the “centr” and “Uralmashevsky” (two powerful groups of the city), which shared the city in the early nineties, and how the townspeople managed to defend the “stone flower” on the place of labor, in the place of which they intended to restore the church of the holy church. Catherine. At the Yeltsin Center building, we are talking about what the first president of Russia remained in the memory of Yekaterinburgers. “Some treat him well, others believe that he ruined everything,” says Shahrin, “I always act in his defense, because he gave us what we demanded at rallies in the late 1980s,“ freedom. And then we disposed of her as ordered: gangs, oligarchs with pocket media appeared, who began to bribe voters per kilogram of buckwheat and place their people in the power, and so on. So if you put forward any accusations against him, part of the fault needs to be taken on. ”
In the evening, the Yeltsin Center is greatly successful by the two best Russian rock bands of recent years. The first is the Petrozavodsk Quintet “Gromyk” with Brezhnev’s eyebrows, galloping the “psychedelic twist” and “I told you”, “throwing with a spear” and “testosterone”. The second is Katya Shilonosova and Evgeny Gorbunov, who convincingly demonstrates what would happen if Jeanne Aguzarova was fond of not the bit muses of the 1960s, but the New York Nou-Web of the 1980s.
But perhaps the most vivid discovery was the German-Data-Norwegian group HEILUNG , who performed at the Drama Theater, for the correspondent of Colta.ru. This year, she received the prize of Metal Hammer magazine in the nomination “The Best underground Group” - although her music has an extremely mediated attitude towards metal. Her concert is even a theatrical but extremely impressive shamanic action: with recreated framework drums and bronze rings of the Vikings, reconstructed swords and shields with which the group members appear on stage, texts of ancient runes and other artifacts of pre -Christian times. The word Heilung in translation means “healing” - and after the final trance number, during which the whole hall stands on your feet, you really feel updated.
As at any major festival, to hear your beloved artist, it is better to take places in advance here. The concert of Emir Kusturitsa and his The No Smoking Orchestra on the site at the General Post Office gather 15,000 people, for which the roadway is blocked. The director himself, reminiscent of either a hussar or the Cossack chieftain, communicates a lot with the audience and almost every song ends with a theme from the “pink panther” - why would it be? An impressive number of people gathered around the flesh scene, where the author of the Superhit Pink Wine is acting - the concert itself, against the background of such a massive stir, looks pretty faded. Cosmopolitan Therr Maitz once again justify the status of one of the most professional indie groups of the country-and even if their performance does not give any surprises, but as if holding an audience in a large fist. The holiday traditionally ends with the choral performance of the song “The Ray of the Sun Golden” from the cartoon “Bremen musicians”: to the sounds of the Bach chamber orchestra over the capital of the Urals, the sun rises - an amazing moment that becomes a reward for the most persistent.
