Gunter Grass died

In one of the hospitals in the city of Lyubeck, in 88 years of life, a German writer, winner of the Nobel Prize Gunter Grass, died. It is reported by Die Welt with reference to the Steidl Publishing House.

Grass was born in 1927 in the free city of Danzig (now Gdansk). At the end of the war, he was enrolled in the SS tank division, was wounded, until 1946 he was in American captivity.

Among the works of the Grasse, the central place is occupied by the Danzig Trilogy, which included the novels of the Tin drum (1959), Cats Mouse (1961), Dog years (1963).

In 1979, the "tin drum" was filmed by director Folker Schlendorf. The film received the "Golden Palm Branch" of the Cannes Film Festival and Oscar as the best foreign film.

Among other famous rows of the graph - “under local anesthesia”, “from the street of the snail”, “crab trajectory”. In addition to Romanov, Grass wrote stories, dramatic works, poems, autobiographical books. He worked a lot as a sculptor and a schedule.

Throughout his life, Grass actively participated in socio-political discussions. In 1990, Grass spoke out against the reunification of Germany. Grass believed that united Germany could be revived as a warlike state.

In 1999, at the age of 72, Gunter Grass was awarded the Nobel Prize in the field of literature. In 2013, he announced that he would no longer create a single novel.
