I must admit, it looked spectacular in its own way. The OSCE parliamentary assembly discussed the draft resolution on the “Magnitsky List” in Monaco, and the main defendants in the list came to this very Monaco. Accredited by the Russian delegation, gentlemen Klyuyev and Pavlov entered the building of the Grimaldi forum, where the meeting was held, and in the famous video you can observe how they walked with significant persons along the corridors of European power.

The visit of high guests, as you can understand, pursued the target of Troykoy.

It was a demonstration of fearlessness. Say, people with a clear conscience do not need to be afraid of European parliamentarians with their resolutions. Demonstration of anger. Like, no matter how Mr. Brauder and Fayerstone slander them in their series, they are civilized and law -abiding people, in costumes and ties, and the hands of guests from distant Moscow are not stained with blood, you can touch. True, they, these guests, are gloomy in appearance, but it is necessary to look slandered. Finally, it was a demonstration of indifference. You call us criminals and criminal authorities, and we do not care. We walk on your forum, like a buffet.

The official position of Russia completely coincides with the style of the behavior of Klyuyev and Pavlov, who visited Monaco. Russia is not afraid of anyone, including its criminals, mash the budget. Russia is offended, and this will soon feel dozens, or even hundreds of Western citizens who gullibly invested money in our largest and most reliable banks. At the same time, Russia does not attach much importance to enemy resolutions. Russia focuses on fines and foreign agents, and any attempts to intervene in our internal affairs, starting with refusal in visas, will receive a proper contemptuous rebuff.

This is a very worthy, politically deeply thought -out and psychologically verified position.

But here is a strangeness: it does not make a proper impression on the West. A couple of weeks ago, the “Magnitsky Law” unanimously approved the Committee on International Affairs of the American Senate - following the relevant committee of the House of Representatives. And yesterday, despite the victorious procession of Klyuyev and Pavlov on the escalators of the OSCE parliamentary Assembly and the protests of Russian representatives, for a document called "The Law in Russia: the business of Sergei Magnitsky" voted in European deputies. And although this paper contains only a call to their governments to establish visa sanctions and freeze assets of persons responsible for the death of Magnitsky and other human rights violations in the Russian Federation, there are serious reasons to believe that this call will be heard. So the visit of Klyuyev and Pavlov to Monaco can become their farewell European tour.

Why does it happen? There is a point of view that the Russian authorities and her, so to speak, defendants, for all their determination, lacks some final fearlessness, anger, indifference. Such metal in the voice in negotiations and stone expression of faces when passing along the corridors of the forum in Monaco, so that not a single hand rises when voting. On the other hand, one cannot still demand from people the impossible, even if these people are clothed with power and huge connections.

For the state that tortured to death in its prison of an innocent man is experiencing famous difficulties in discussions with opponents. And the gentlemen, about whom so much is written and said, is not easy to prove that they are not killers or thieves. Although, of course, no one canceled the presumption of innocence and it is impossible to arrest Klyuyev with Pavlov right there in Monaco. However, after all, they are not arrested, our compatriots are simply putting on the list, and this sentence should be recognized not so terrible - unlike the killers and thieves deserve. Not to mention the verdict actually issued to Sergey Magnitsky.
