The video conference of Vladimir Putin with the generals fighting in Cyria, with their pompous meaninglessness and technological show, reminded the meeting scene in the "military room" from the film by Stanley Kubrick "Dr. Streinzhlav, or how I stopped being afraid and fell in love with the bomb." The President of Russia so uneasyly enjoys the role of the commander in chief, who again turned him into a handshake leader that the conspiracy therapists turned out to be here with his advanced "who is beneficial?"
Perhaps the famous political commentator Stanislav Belkovsky went the farther. In his interview there is a passage designed for the shocking of the public:
It is clear that Putin knew about the attacks in Paris in advance, because he has an extensive agent in ISIS. This vast agent in ISIS leadership arose due to the fact that the Baassists, that is, former representatives of the troops of Saddam Hussein, lead ISIS in military terms. And these are very close to the Soviet Union, to Russia, people actually. That is, the Russian special services have vast agents in this environment since the time of the Iran-Iraq war and even earlier. And Yevgeny Maksimovich Primakov overshadowed all this.
The statement is rather rampant. It drowned in the sea of others "Putin". Nevertheless, there is a grain of truth in it.
Evgeny Primakov met Saddam Hussein in the mid-60s, when he worked as a correspondent of Pravda in the Middle East, and Saddam headed the BAAS party security service. After the party came to power in 1968, the service grew into a full -fledged secret police. As Primakov himself said , it was then that Moscow identified Saddam as the most promising member of the Iraq leadership:
At first, when in the 68th year they still had a coup in Iraq, when this group of Baasists led by Bakr came to power, Saddam Hussein was the fifth on the list of seven people who headed the revolutionary council. But then we made a bet on him. It was not in vain that we made a bet on him, because he was, in general, the most, in any case in words, the most progressive.
During the period of the Iraqi crisis of 1990, the academician turned into a central figure of settlement based on a certain “Gorbachev plan”. But what this plan was, no one knew. And in September 1991, Primakov became the first deputy of the KGB chairman and headed foreign intelligence - the first main department, which became the independent department in the same year, the SVR, at the head of the same academician.
The cooperation of the two intelligence went in full. It concentrated around the activities of the UN Special Commission on the disarmament of Iraq and on how to establish the supply of Russian weapons Baghdad bypassing the UN sanctions. In September 1993, a sensational visit to Moscow of Iraqi intelligence, Sabir, Abdel Aziz Aziza Ad-Duri, was held, who seemed to inform Evgeny Primakov about the secret financing of the Russian parliamentary opposition to Iraq. But by the time this information was printed, the armed rebellion in Moscow struck and was defeated and the data on Saddami millions disappeared into more serious accusations.
Having become the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and then the Prime Minister of Russia, Evgeny Primakov turned the full support of Baghdad into the official political course of Moscow, motivating him with the economic interests of the country and the need to create a “multipolar world” as a confrontation of the American “Hegemony”. The secret supply of Russian weapons Iraq through third countries resumed. And in April 1999, the American journalist Seymour Hersh, referring to his sources in the US intelligence community, made the statement that Primakov (which, then recall, was the head of the Russian government) received from Iraq a reward for his services - at least one banking transfer in the amount of 800 thousand dollars in November 1997. According to Khersha, the CIA learned from his informant in Moscow about another trench in the name of Primakov, in the amount of $ 1.2 million, but the source was considered not worthy of confidence. This time, reconnaissance officers assured Hersh, the information is absolutely reliable.
The then Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Igor Ivanov, called the Hershe article with a "dirty attempt" to distract the attention of society from the bombing of Yugoslavia. Odnko Evgeny Primakov himself said nothing. Only after six months later, the State Duma deputy Alexander Vengerovsky began to send requests to various departments and distribute interviews on this topic, spokesman Primakov Thomas Kolesnichenko stated that there would be no refutations or litigation. “The campaign in the western press,” he explained to journalists, “was started with the filing of an American intelligence officer Butler, who clashed with Evgeny Maksimovich on Iraq. Butler himself was engaged in intelligence under the guise of a commission. And threw a shadow at Primakov, believing that we can be used anyway.”
A year later, the former head of the UN Special Commission Richard Butler made similar accusations against Primakov. He threatened to sue, but did not sue.
In April 2003, when Baghdad was taken by American troops, British journalists David Harrison from Daily Telegraph and Patrick Graham from Guardian discovered a convincing confirmation of close cooperation between Russian and Iraqi intelligence. From the documents that they picked up in the dilapidated, still smoking building of the Iraqi intelligence headquarters, it revealed that Moscow supplied Saddam's regime with valuable intelligence. In particular, one of the messages stated Tony Blair’s conversation with Silvio Berlusconi, in which they discussed the Iraqi problem.
Harrison and Graham also found many personal affairs of Iraqi intelligence agents, and some of them had evidence of the completion of special two -week courses in Moscow in September 2002. Nearby was the negative of the photograph that captured a group of men on the background of the Kremlin.
The foreign intelligence service of Russia refused to comment on these publications. "We do not comment on the unfounded and unproven statements published in Boulevard publications," said Boris Labusov, head of the SVR press bureaus. Primakov suddenly decided to tell the press why he went to Baghdad before the war. It turns out that he advised Saddam to resign, but Saddam did not obey a good advice.
The fact that former officers of the Saddam army and intelligence serve ISIS, the Western press writes not the first day.
Having won the war, the United States lost the world in Iraq. The dramatic errors of the temporary American administration were the decision to dissolve the army and the decree on the "debate" of the state apparatus - by analogy with "denazification".
The military, who all were in the Baas party, lost both social status and livelihoods at once. Their combat experience was in demand by ISIS. The current "caliph" Igil Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi brought a close acquaintance with them in the American camp Bock, where he was contained in 2004.
It was there that the integration of the Baasists and jihadists into a single whole occurred. Eyewitnesses claim that Iraqi military stands behind each ISIS leader, develop operations plans, and lead the internal security service. At the same time, they themselves remain in the shade and even wear masks so that they are not identified.
The question of which of them uses whom - baasists of jihadists or vice versa - remains open. But, in my opinion, the question is whether Moscow has agents among the Baasists-Igilovites, given all of the foregoing, deprived of meaning. Where more likely it is possible to assume the opposite - that ISIS has agents in Moscow.
Among other things, the ISIS oil business does not interfere with Assada at all, rather on the contrary: there is information that the Assad’s ISIS is concluded, so to speak, an agreement on the division of products - the regime receives half the energy from the power plants controlled by ISIS. If this is true, is it true that Russian bombers destroy tanks with oil with their missiles?
If we talk about the possible agents of the SVR in the ranks of ISIS, then this is more likely one of the militants of the Imrat of the Caucasus. They are allegedly left for Russia with the assistance of the FSB. It was not difficult to recruit them. But none of them took a fairly high position to gain access to ISIS secrets. The exception is Omar al-Shishani, but it is from the caste of irreconcilable.
