10 years ago, on May 31, 2009, an unlimited series of civil actions against infringement of freedom of meetings, in defense of the 31st article of the Russian Constitution guaranteeing it, began. The Strategy -31 began - the All -Russian Civil Movement.
The first action took place on the Triumphal Square in Moscow (former Mayakovka) - a traditional place of demonstrations in defense of freedom of speech. An attempt to conduct a rally ended in a rigid acceleration .
It was decided to defend freedom on the 31st. The idea belonged to the leader of the National Bolsheviks Eduard Limonov. The Coalition "Another Russia" was supported by the Moscow Helsinki Group, the Human Rights Environmental Center "Memorial", the Movement "For Human Rights" and a number of other structures.
In St. Petersburg, the demonstrations took place at the Gostiny Dvor and accelerated in the most cruel way. In total, more than 40 regions of Russia participated in Strategy-31.
None of the Strategy-31 shares for the first year of its existence were agreed by the authorities who organized alternative public events (mainly rallies of Prooputin youth movements) at the same time and in the same places).
