April 16 is the day of solidarity with Vladimir Akimenkov , one of 27 people who pass through the so -called “swamp business” - the most massive and loud political criminal case of recent years.

Akimenkov Vladimir Georgievich. June 10, 1987
Status: the charge was charged under part 2 of article 212 of the Criminal Code
Arrested until June 10, 2013
Location: SIZO-5 "Vodnik"
Lawyer: Dmitry Agranovsky
Activist of the "Left Front". In 2010, Akimenkov was sentenced to one year conditionally for participating in the activities of the forbidden NBP (Article 282 of the Criminal Code). The basis was the leaflets seized from him, on which the email address of the NBP was indicated. May 6, 2012 Akimenkov went to Bolotnaya Square, where a permitted protest rally was supposed to pass. On the morning of his birthday, June 10, Volodya Akimenkov was arrested, and since then he has been in a pre -trial detention center. He is accused of breaking through a police cordon and attempts to hide in a crowd of protesters. Four times the Basmanny Court seized as a preventive measure for Akimenkov, and the Moscow City Court each time rejected cassation complaints about the extension of the arrest. The last time the arrest was extended until June 10, 2013.
The prosecutor motivated the need to arrest by the fact that Akimenkov "goes to anti -government actions." Medical documents attached to the case file, according to which Vladimir is not recommended to be in places of imprisonment for health reasons, the judge ignored. Meanwhile, Akimenkov has a very serious illness, and in the pre -trial detention center he began to blind. In September, Akimenkov already saw almost nothing. The Committee on May 6 organized a collection of signatures for his transfer to the hospital. Lawyer Dmitry Agranovsky filed a petition, as a result of which Akimenkov transferred SIZO-1 “sailor silence” to the Akimenkov on September 24. Perhaps Akimenkov will be established by disability. In response to a petition in support of Akimenkov, the head of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in Moscow said that Akimenkov’s health status is satisfactory. Vladimir himself reports that doctors discovered a deterioration.
Before the arrest, Vladimir actively defended the political prisoners and, being in a pre -trial detention center, asks everyone to "do not forget other political prisoners."
Having learned about the intention to spend the day of solidarity with him, Akimenkov asked instead to help the orphanage or connect to volunteer programs to help orphans.
